OEM tires on a 20. Two wheeler.
    rotated on schedule.
I was planning on getting tires Aug, Sept looking at the wear on them but don't think that split will make it that far.
    Whatcha'll think?

It looks like you’re at the wear bars on the outsides. So much for 60k tires?

See the tread wear mark? look down about three tread pads. Then again couple more inches down.

Doesn’t show well in the pictures. Not sure I’d worry about that little guy.

If that's a cut it was a damn good aim right dead centerline.

Hard to tell. Doesn’t look like rot. Either way organic compounds rot which has little to do with mileage and more to do with time and weather.

Just the one tire? Or all have similar looking splits in them

Had a set of continentals on a car that the sidewall split pretty horrendously in several places. Tire shop said it was normal and they were fine. Didn’t look fine to me.

Tire shops have a meter/chart to compare. That doesn’t look bad.

We have the same tires and the same little cracks. I have no problem loading up to max capacity and towing to “wherever”…

If those are the same tires that came on my truck... I think they suck ass with a silly straw. I had chunking after 30k miles.

My Challenger RT had tires start to dry rot at like 29k and 5.5 years. The dry rot was on the sides of the treads. Looked more like this.

Personally I would change them out at the first decent sale simply for the safety fact (perceived or imagined). I don’t play around with tires at all and as a Michelin consumer I find most have to be replaced due to dry rot and not wear. Generally speaking I only go about 5 to 6 years on tires before changing them regardless of mileage.

The Michelin AT2 has been one of the best OEM tire offerings I have seen from Toyota. I would be extremely happy if I got 38k out of them because I find OEM just don’t last long…at all. I believe they use cheaper compounds or something than the same exact tire you would buy at Mavis Discount or such. Maybe I am right, maybe I am wrong who knows.
