2022 Tonneau covers

Waiting on Retrax one xr. Got my third email this week. New dates 5/23-27.

Any updates? Pics for the group?

 

I doubt there are any pics yet. Retrax told me yesterday they are still awaiting materials to begin production on the One XR.

 

I just placed an order for the Retrax Pro XR. Delivery says 3 business days or less for it to get out. Once I have it, I will post some pictures of it installed. Truck is also supposed to be here in the next 3days...we shall see if this stuff all starts coming together.

 

Sorry bro, but read a few posts back that I made about retrax. They don't have the materials yet to began production. The 3 business days is complete horse sh*t. I talked directly to the manufacturer and they aren't even in production yet. They told me they hoped to receive the materials at the end of the month. As of yesterday when I talked to them again, they still have not received the materials to build.

 

Then how can they blatantly lie? This is what I got:

 

That looks like their generic order confirmation email. I reached out to them the first time when my estimated ship date changed to a week later. I checked their site and it said "3 days." After a back and forth with them not being upfront, they finally admitted the 2022 tundra models aren't in production yet. I just got another email Thursday pushing my ship date to mid May. So I reached back out and they said "still awaiting materials." In the mean time, orders are piling up so depending on when one ordered theirs, they may be waiting a while.

 

But they have no problem taking your money first! JOKE!

 

Real Trucks does the same thing. Most the tonneau covers were either ready to ship or shipped in less than a week according to the web sight....until you ask a rep! I ordered one March 31, web page said ships in 3-5 days, rep told me to allow 20. I have received 3 emails since pushing the date back. I am now at May 11-16!

I have never had such trouble getting accessories for a new vehicle. I just wonder how long the COVID excuse can be milked, that cow has got to be almost dry!

I reached out to truck2go regarding their retractable unit for the Tundra and they just emailed me back (on a Saturday night so that’s impressive) that theirs will be ready to ship in 2weeks (from a Canadian Location) with 4-5days transport.

if I get the run around from Retrax on Monday, they are losing my order and I’m going to seriously look at Truck2go’s option. My only major concern with theirs was that they are a California Company and just not sure how their covers handle Canadian winters. Retrax is from ND so they should see snow all the time and design theirs accordingly.

feedback on Truck2go’s covers welcome for those that have them.

 

for 5.5 bed, i won't get a retractable one as the storage box will take the limited space inside the bed.

and now I'm debating in between of MX4 (hard fold) or X4s (hard rollup)

 

Same here. on my 3rd delay it seem the day before it is to ship BOOOM I get the email that says another another 3-4 weeks

 

I was tired of waiting for the Bakflip so I ordered the Extang Xceed Tonneau Cover. I ordered it on 4/20 and showing it shipped today with overnight delivery for tomorrow. I ordered it through auto anything and they had 2 available to ship at that time.

 

My impression from customer service was that they really had no idea regarding availability and shipping. Yet, right now, the website says "arrives May 2nd-6th". They should be listing the Bakflips as backordered instead with at least a month delay for delivery.

 

Personally, I wouldn't let their location be a factor in my decision. I would think that every manufacturer designs their product to be suitable for all temperatures, regardless of where they are located.

On the poor availability of the Bakflip the same as the OEM, I betcha Toyota is getting first dibs on them, which is causing the shortages elsewhere.

 

I can show you messages from trucks2go from 2 months ago. They will 2 week to death. Every message has been 2 weeks we will have it. I gave up on them also.

 

Just talked to Retrax. They confirmed the order and the cover is shipping 04/28.... of this year ! If I get an email pushing it back, I will let this thread know.

 

Hopefully that means they got the materials in. I ordered mine nearly a month ago.

 

this looks pretty nice! do you have some pics of it folded open? And is it pretty heavy when opening? My old undercover hard tri fold was pretty heavy on my old tundra which is why i might go to soft roll up now as I dont like when its folded up all the way and blocks the rear window as well.

my truxedo Pro X15 came with foam blocks to put right there and fill in the gap. Nothing out of the ordinary, imo.

Truxedo Pro X15. There's a piece of foam on the end of the side rail. I didn't install anything on the bed side, no need imo.

 

Quick confirmation that Retrax is shipping. Mine was delivered yesterday and installed it today. Pretty easy, except had to enlarge the tub holes for drain tube to fit in.

 

Anyone know if the pervious Tundra camper shell will fit 2022?

 

Here ya go...there are two rubber straps that hold it in place when folded all the way back.

 

Do you have problems with drivers side rail flexing too much so that latch doesn't engage? In previous post i discussed this problem on my end and had to raise back end of rail up in order for the latch to engage before cover bottomed out on top of tailgate. Others had same issue as well so wondering if you ran into it and if so what was your fix.
Outside of that a really like to ProX15, looks great and has been waterproof so far, even through a no-touch car wash

 

For those wanting a bed cover, I just installed the EXTANG XCEED TONNEAU COVER. Purchased it AutoAnything for $1087.66. Took 6 days to get here and 45 minutes to install. I did get to keep the factory bed tie down system. Photo heavy to show it off and I think I will like this one!!

 

Glad you like it…I’d like it except it looks like it covers the camera and the back window.

 

I have had a bed cover on my last 3 trucks and can count on one hand the number of times I ran with it up so I will be good lol.
