I thought i mentioned it in the first-gen t2s thread, maybe not. i cant make it this year. Didnt spend any of my truck money, so i can do it right for next year.

Thanks! Started wrenching at 7am and the only break till 1am was the 20min drive to the shop. These Yokos were an absolute bitch to mount!! Super stiff sidewall! They’re on and don’t rub while street driving. With the time allotted we got 3.8(driver) and 4.2(pass) caster. Its enough to get me to T2S but I’m bringing plenty of zip ties, duct tape, self tappers and spare plastic cuz I expect to rip some shit up on the trails!

Appreciate the support fellas! I’m exhausted! Just need to pack up the truck and head southeast for a much needed vacation!

 

Haven’t trimmed anything since the old 34’s but there’s not much left to trim or hammer. I’ll get a better alignment when I get back but if I want to stuff at full lock, a tub is in the future. Won’t be nearly as sever as it was going to be without the Solos though.

 

Finally on the road to T2S on 35’s!! They are heavy and noticeable but they drive well, not as noisy as expected from the tread and they don’t rub while road driving. First tank after the 35’s: 245 miles @14mpg. Not bad for being fully loaded for a 2 week road trip and having OD off most of the drive through all the passes! A little better than with the 34’s. Can’t wait for the rest of the gears to show up!

Huh? 70 with stock gears and 33’s I’m a little over 2k with 4.10 gears.

Bigger tires would be less rpm. So 35’s should be sub 2k most likely, not more.

 

Engine works harder because it's at lower rpms. Lugging it out a bit.

Taller tire is the same as taller gear, which is numerically lower when talking about ratio. It's counter intuitive until you fully understand it.

 

Bigger tires will be higher actual speed at lower rpm. Lowering gears (going to a higher numeric ratio like 4.56) will be higher rpm at any actual speed. For 33s the closest numeric ratio is 4.30 to be close to accurate on the speedo. 4.10s will still be a higher actual speed at low rpm, but not by much.

 

been sitting on that one for a while. and i have learned to like it. Where the titan can power up hills without trying to downshift, i have to have room to get a little extra speed before the hill to keep the tundra from kicking itself out of OD. But in the flat stuff i just cruise at 2k (67-68), and it doesnt offend my ears as bad.

 

I have found 68mph is that happy medium for decent mpg’s and my tolerance for going slow.
