It’s a different world in Vantucky, and I’m out in the hills more than 25 miles from that even.

Honestly - the news makes it sound and look way worse than it is. I like it out here. Sure, I disagree with some of the laws and politics and such, but I also disagree with some in many other places too. I have mild weather, access to some of the most beautiful and pristine outdoors in the world, I work for an amazing company that pays me really well and I have a great extended family here.

Shit - where my parents are in western MT and where I grew up in N. Idaho, they’ve still got rampant drug and alcohol problems, drifters living out of their cars, far right and far left zealots preaching all manner of lunacy… there’s just a little more land between the houses and less spotlight on it in the news is all.

Blue/red, black/white, she/he/they/it - we all bleed red. I’m a humanist - I’m trying to see beauty in the world and have empathy for those that are in it.

This is the edge of our chicken run/coop tonight when I went out to collect the eggs. That’s Kevin…in the bird world, it’s the males that are beautiful.

 

My good buddy grew up in Washougal, beautiful area.

We saw this guy on the ground instead of the roof tonight. The new owners are tearing down the jungle property, so it’ll be interesting to see where he and the rest of the family end up

 

some people are just trying to figure it all out…

Whatever someone calls themselves, 100% cool with that. But, I will not be forced to call someone their latest trendy pronoun. Hard pass

There’s 4 I think. The peacock, the hen, and 2 kiddos, whatever they’re called in the peacock world. I only saw that dude tonight.

 

Apparently the world is leaving me behind. Balls = dude. No balls = chick. I think I might be wrong now though.

 

I get that. Doing it to follow the trend is just as sheeple as anything else and plenty are doing that.
My kids have friends that are seriously trying to sort it out, and come from families that don’t accept it. It’s hard to watch.
The “they/them” is for those that either honestly don’t know and rather than telling someone to call them a she one week and a he the next, go by they so it stays neutral. Or for those that literally feel neutral/agnostic from the start (my wife’s best friend’s daughter falls into that category).

Yes, I’m well aware of what biology and DNA say, and don’t disagree that things like sports (and lots of other stuff) are ridiculously messed up with this whole thing. But I’m also trying my damnedest to help people find support and understanding and maybe in a roundabout way prevent one more suicide or one more mass fatality event.

 

I’ll be interested to see if Josephine (the female here) ends up sitting on eggs this year and hatching any. Also wondering what will happen to Nelson (the juvenile male) when he starts becoming big enough to be a “threat” to Kevin.

 

Nature is metal. I can’t wait to challenge my son to feats of strength. He turns 6 in a week, so I’m guessing I should get training.
