    2017 1794 Tundra...Waiting on a 22 1794
I just got my new truck and have some immediate thoughts I will share comparing the truck to my 2017. They are were/are both 1794 models.

    • Center console has less storage room by far even though the console looks wider
    • Truck feels bigger overall than the old one. Can really tell the hood is longer. Dash feels larger. Seats feel wider.
    • Windshield is shorter but I can see out of the truck better. Blind spots are not as noticeable
    • Ride quality is about the same. My 17 had the 3/1 kit with 33" tires. I assumed the ride would be much better than it is.
    • Truck is quieter inside (could be the "no big tires")
    • Mirrors are way better to see with
    • I feel like the 5.7 had more throttle response from a dead stop but went flat pretty quick. This motor takes a second or two to go and then it really goes. Have to get used to it and get past break-in
    • The start/stop feature doesn't activate as much as I thought it would (good thing). When it does it is much less noticeable than on my buddies Trail Boss.
    • The big screen is cool, but I feel like it is really unnecessary after seeing the overall functions that it can do. When you are on FM radio it just seems pointless. I wish it would split screen to see multiple things at once.
    • Really like the auto fold steps
    • The camera are really good and going to be helpful when pulling my 22' car trailer
    • Overall, I really like the comfort and features. Toyota is hopeless on button placement (steering wheel warmer not on the steering wheel)
    • JBL system is waaaaay better than the 17 model
Taking the truck on a 8 hour road trip next weekend. Hope to have a better list after that trip.

My 17 was an amazing truck. Never thought I would leave mother GM when I bought it. Hopefully, this one measures up to it with the added features.

Totally agree with your assessment. My 21 Tundra had what I felt like was a physical bend in the windshield that is deleted in the 22 and that makes me happy. It was a distortion if you were looking at the correct angle. Love the 14" screen, but agree. All that screen and such limited use of it. My 21 could show 3 different "data points". I hope Toyota updates and sends out an updated user interface. We'll see..... Love the ride and feel of the new truck.

did you get the 5.5ft box with your new one and if so whats the overall length with the tailgate down? Torn on what to order now after all the restrictions of Toyota Canada slapped on us especially the Hybrid. Even considered the new Sierra because of it cause at least other manufactures offer a wide variety of options compared to what we got for the 22 Tundra :(

I did. For pulling my trailer I would have preferred the 6.5 bed but for daily driving and use I like the 5.5. I pull my trailer a few times a year to out of state car shows so I just didn't need the bigger truck for everyday. I'm sorry I don't have measurements with the tailgate down but I believe the 22 is a total of 6" longer than the previous model with 5.5 bed.

not sure how long the old 5.5ft was, have an 08 atm with the 6.5ft and not sure if the short box would be fine for when i occasionally load my snowmobile in the back during winter with my dilema if I wanted the Platinum hybrid i'd be stuck with the 5.5ft box

As far as I can tell, you can configure a hybrid platinum with the 6.5 foot bed.

Not in Canada. If you want the 6.5 hybrid its Limited only and even then the regular Limited doesn't get the surround camera's but the TRD Limited does but downgrades you to 18" rims instead of the 20's Same with tow mirrors or the regular ones. Platinum only comes with big ugly tow mirrors and anything below Platinum has the regular mirrors and can't get the tow mirrors if they wanted them. Even comparing withing the same trim level's gas vs hybrid some of the stuff you do or dont get is wild
