Just out of curiosity I went to look at a Raptor and compare it to the Pro...

...much to my surprise, the dealer told me they're not letting anyone test drive them and they are also marking them up 10k over MSRP lol. It's been years since I've stepped foot on a Ford lot, did I miss something??? never herd or paid any attention to the Raptor until this year. Must be a pretty bad a$$ truck.

I was in the market for a Mustang and visited a dealership in Washington DC. They had a GT 500 with a window sticker of $76,000. I asked them what they would take if I paid cash and they said $86,000. I laughed, they laughed and I bought a 5.0 GT.

yeah thats about right depending on the area. In Dec of 15 we drove down to San Diego to visit some friends for a couple days before going to Disney land. My buddy was looking at an f150. They let him test drive the raptor. It was pretty nice. But they had 10k mark up plus like 8k plus in taxes. We went across the street and he traded his Tacoma in and got a Tundra crew max instead.

Now the only engine you could get in a Raptor is an EcoBoost, which pretty much rules it out for me.

I've written them off years ago, I'm shocked to see people shelling out that kind of cash for a Ford. WTH even the salesmen were acting like I'm supposed to bow and kiss their a$$es, I guess times have changed since the bailout lol

liked them with the high output V8... Lost all respect when they decided to ditch it for EcoBoost.

X2. Kind of takes the fun out of it when you have to wait 4 seconds for boost. Though I'm not gonna lie, a supercharged 6.2 would be enticing.

Don't forget about the poor frame design hat led to MANY frame failures from driving on a dirt road. (Frame bending between rear of cab and front of the bed due to a cab mount design that they notched the frame for)

I had one as a work truck for a couple years. I would NEVER buy one. I will say the suspension was pretty sweet. Other than that, just another ford truck.

That is why they will not let you test drive it. So you will buy it before finding out it is a POS.

dealers around here all have $5-15K mark ups on the raptor. That said, they ahve the same on the TRD Pro

Dealers crack me up. When I bought a GTO back in '06 i had a dealer tell me how no test drives "this is a limited vehicle from Australia". Even though I let him know it was what i was going to purchase and was goign to pay cash, he still brushed me off.

Bought one down the block and made sure to get all my service done at the first dealership.

Ok so just the body burns well. Better have a quick escape plan. I wonder how many issues you would see if you were on a Raptor forum.

BTW, not sure how anyone could call these POS, the new gen's are sweet. But fucking expensive. Ford was the first on my list, and came close to pulling the trigger on a raptor, but realized I didn't knew a $70K truck as wasn't even sure a truck was something that'd work for me (first truck, just had 3rd kid, one of the few things that oculd transport the family easily). Now realizing I love having a truck, i constantly put the raptor in my thoughts again. That said it was much easier justifying $45K vs 70K.....i would have bought a pro if they didn't have the stupid markups here and every dealer telling me i couldn't order one.

I do not know much about the new ones. But if the past is any consideration with all I have learned owning and talking to Ford owners there will be expensive issues. For instance I had a Ford ranger....three transmissions fuel relay, fuel pump. My son has an F 150 continuous problems....windows, intake, leaks, etc. Friends with issues as well

While I'm not a Ford Raptor fan the new motor and drivetrain are an improvement over the previous. Watch this video to hear about the new twin turbo V6 with 450 hp versus 375 hp on the previous V8. The new transmission is a ten speed. New motor 510 torque versus 470 torque on the previous. A fully loaded Raptor should be around 65k but dealers are selling them 10k more because people will pay it. While I'm a loyal Toyota guy I won't say the new Raptor is a step down from the previous Raptor because spec wise it's not. It's really an improvement. Now if I was going to buy a Raptor I would buy the previous model. Since people are now are getting about 5k-15k less because the new model is out.

I have seen the video. Here is my take. 10 speed transmission is going to be very expensive to replace. Turbos are not cheap either. You are putting a lot of wear and tear on a 6 cylinder to get those kinds of numbers out of it. My guess is it is not going to hold up. Why does Toyota stick with what they have and Ford is continuously coming out with the next greatest thing that in the past turns out to be the next greatest expensive POS

The dealers dont want you to order one because they cant mark it up. Find a different dealer.
