as someone who would rather shovel dirt than talk to a car sales person, it was good . Got what i paid for and they were pretty chill.
I get my service done at stampede toyota as they are close, no complaints and they seem organized. I have heard the owner also has a lexus dealer but i do not actually know.
My mom got a rav4 at charlsglen and it seems easy for her to get what she needs.

Yay April Blizzard of the century. It's supposed to get worse overnight.

Schools are closed (first time in 25y), post office closed, highways closed, roads are empty.

Shelves are bare, people are going nuts over a 2-3 day blizzard.

Tundra had no issues on the road, even made a snack run after work.

We had some flurries yesterday and Monday. The bulk of that system missed us.

One of my co-workers is whining because it's -10 here.

    "It's only -2 in Winnipeg."
"You'd rather have -2 and 40 cm of snow than -10 and sunshine?"

This was the start of it. They definitely oversold is as Storm of the Century.

We ended up with about 30cm instead of the 60-80cm they were calling for

    Still sucks for mid-April.

I know your post is old, but I also looked high and low. Sent many emails and couldn't find any either.

A local guy said he could bring some in and when I called they were DIY kits they were going to fab from TrailGear or prebuilt from RockyRoad, who don't have a great reputation and mount terribly.

I was going to go with P&P, but after reading the group buy thread where people were having terrible experiences and a mod had to close the thread, I decided to go with RCI. I'll have to suck up the $$$ shipping cost as well.

They are going to ship them LTL to Depot here in town, for a few bucks more than to the USA border. 15% off right now. Hopefully I won't get dinged with Duty as they are USA made and I'll only get an invoice for taxes and maybe a small brokerage fee.

I may start a thread on my experience ordering to Canada, once I submit payment (waiting for special delivery invoice), so others can know what to expect if they go that route.

That's a big reason I left the Lower Wasteland in BC where I grew up. Fuck rain. I'll take -30 and sun over +3 and rain.

The RCIs look really nice! I like that they have plate options. I really wanted sliders with plates, but SDHQ was the only company that was interested in working with a Canadian, at the time. After a few winters with the SDHQ sliders, which have been great overall, I really wish I’d had plates added to them.

I don’t know if it’s an option for you, but I saved a pile on shipping by going with DHL Express. You need to have, or know someone with, a commercial account. But they were great to deal with, and way cheaper than anyone else I had as an option. But maybe LTL is cheaper still…

As far as duty, I’ve been dinged on NAFTA (or whatever it’s called now) items a few times and successfully appealed. It’s kind of a pain, and can take a while to get resolution, but it’s worth it for the moral victory alone sometimes. ;)

Please do post about your overall experience and how you like the RCIs!

    Thanks for that!

I don't know anyone with a DHL account and it seems RCI uses FedEx exclusively. I'm fine with that and the cost.

I'll keep the appeal in mind if they end up charging me a significant amount or it's worth my time.

The top plates were a must as we have a dog and I didn't want paws getting stuck in gaps (I've read horror stories). Plus, they should give me some side debris protections from my offset wheels. My wife wants steps, so top plates will make her happy.

Shipping is NOT cheap, no matter where I get them shipped. All the other vendors were the same (WKOR, P&P, SDHQ others) and many won't even ship to Canada. I found a vendor in BC who sold some sliders and even inside Canada, it was more than what RCI said they will charge me).

In the end, it was either $350usd to a parcel service that would charge me $25 storage and forklift and I'd have to drive 250km round trip to get them (gas, time). Or $400usd LTL to a depot 20km from my house

We'll see how it works out. It's looking like about $2000cad, landed, after all is said and done (top plate, shipped, taxes, exchange, duty, fees). I plan on rattle can painting them for ease of touch ups in the future. They will be used as off road protections and steps (camping, gravel roads, fishing trip, not actual sliding or Rock crawling). I just didn't want cheap steps that would rust out or bend in a year.

Buy once, right? That's what I told my wife.

That’s not too bad all in. Especially to get them within 20kms. And yes, even if you’re not hardcore rock crawling, I think the sliders are worth it. It wouldn’t take a very big mistake off-roading, for them to more than pay for themselves.

The plates would be great for kids, wives and dogs. Fortunately our mutt is fairly large and skips all steps, for one big lunge. Haha. The plates will be awesome for protecting the truck from gravel too, I’d imagine.

I ended up getting mine Linex’d. It’s nice and grippy, as well as easy to patch with CT spray bomb liner, the odd time that I accidentally scraped them. (I’m not hard on the truck normally, that’s what quads are for.)

Hope everything goes smoothly for you. :)

    Doesn't look that bad. :bananadance:

Snow in April sucks! It's snowing here again today.

Smoking a spatchcocked turkey for Easter. I should be in shorts, not a winter jacket and toque.

EEEEE, ordered my RCI Sliders today (top tread, bare metal), shipped to Canada. It'll save me hours travelling, gas to and from the USA border, holding fees at the parcel service. I still expect to pay PST/GST/a few misc fees when they arrive. Shipping was $50 more, but that covers the forklift fees at the parcel service place and saves me gas money.

They have been great so far with email response (24hrs) and picked up the phone as soon as I called to submit payment. Tim (sales) was awesome to talk to and work out the final payment.

Now the wait! It sounds like about 6 weeks, but we'll see. Already paid the credit card for them, so when they arrive, it's like they're free.
