What annoys you about your truck?

Right. It’s going in tomorrow to a different shop. It’s like something never gets tightened down and works it’s way loose.

 

The 3rd Gen thread on the JBL sound system got me going. Having a 2.5 Gen DC means that even if you pay for premium sound, its still not JBL. Why is that? Toyota just couldn't be bothered to design a JBL system for the DC.
Honestly, the sound system in my new Tundra is worse than and of our other vehicles, and the next newest one of those is a 2011. Even the Bose in my 05 Silverado crushes it (and honestly Bose isn't exactly great). Having to adjust the volume as each new song starts is ridiculous. Then there was that first phone call, had the bluetooth music set as a nice level only to suddenly have my ringtone (Rob Zombie) come across at full blast. No excuse for such poor sound and interface given today's technology.

 

When you shift from D to S while driving, I wish it would keep you in whichever gear you're in instead of defaulting to S4. I sometimes need to downshift on the highway but I don't need to drop two gears at once.

 

I’m amazed that someone much smarter than me hasn’t figured out a way to circumvent the remote start\shut off issue. There must be a relay somewhere that controls the function. Come on people, 1 of you could become a legend overnight if you could solve this. I’m talking parades in your honor, national Holliday, hell maybe a new US currency with your picture..the $19.99 bill.

 

I believe it's actually hard coded into the ECM. I don't know of any tuners that have solved this issue either.

backup camera quality is meh, and the lines don't adjust when you turn

my wife's 2015 highlander has both of these.

 

Seriously?!? My garage door buttons are on the auto-dimming rear view mirror in my 2020 1794.

 

LOL i must have missed that. I was expecting buttons on the console, not the mirror. YESSSSS

 

Yeah I was about to say... I had to wire my garage door button to a switch in my Tacoma and loved that I had this already in the tundra and only took maybe a minute to set up


I guess mine for today is fog light only activated when low beams are on. Like having the option in my Tacoma where they activate with parking lights. I know there are mods to fix this….

 

2021 the cruise control is horrible, in radar on the highway it thinks I'm going to rear end cars in the exit lane. In normal cruise I'll set it to 80 speedo reads 79 and Waze shows 78 on the screen

 

It keeps breaking down for no apparent reason. That's what annoys me.

Rack and pinion went out which mean all the following also goes out in short order= power steering pump goes out, serpentine belt takes a shit, clutch fan goes out, battery dies, possibly a bad alternator and now one of my new CV axles that I installed 2 weeks ago moves in and out (meaning I have to uninstall it just to reinstall it to see if the got damn retaining clip catches).

 

I rarely use the radar cruise because it drops speed unnoticeably as you approach a vehicle from behind. If you're not paying attention, you'll be doing 65 in a 70 instead of the 79 you would like to do.

The normal cruise is operating correctly. Your speedometer is not exactly calibrated - none of them are. I trust the Waze number the most. I'll set the cruise to whatever I need to to get to my target on Waze. I think anything within 2% is within spec. The diameter and the air pressure of your tires both affect the accuracy, and the diameter changes as you wear down the tread.

 

The radio station toggle on the steering wheel seems backwards to me. Hitting the upside moves the preset down and vice versa with the lower side. Is everyone's the same or was mine miswired?

 

Yea something definitely is loose, I drive on gravel and hwy almost daily, sometimes I fly through the grading surface at 60mph+ and never out of alignment.

Right now I'm chasing a rattle from the dash, near the passenger a pillar, it's driving me crazy, I think it's the speaker cover that I've removed and added foam, still rattle, tightened the bolts that mount the dash to the crash bar, still rattle.

 

Nice, now that's simple engineering. Wish Tundra's had this option.

 

They still annoy me there as they are just out of my reach, so I have to lean forward every time. Long leg, short arm problems.

 

I didn't have to fork out for Nav as Google Maps works good enough for me. You need Apple Carplay which came in my 2020.

 

Just put on your tin foil hat and you should be fine.

 

Well umm gee...

I just learned that if you forget to take the truck out of gear (D) and turn off the keyless ignition. The truck will roll freely as if it were in Neutral. Thankfully no person or parts were injured in this experiment

 

2.5 gen CM with really no storage in the cab. Loved the first gen storage under the seats. I know there are some solutions, but why not make it stock?!

 

Apologies if this was already answered. Clicking the fob twice opens all doors. You can also go into settings on the radio head and set it up to open all doors at once with one grab of the door handle.

 

How tall are you? Or do you sit close to the steering wheel?

 

Seems strange. Under seat storage, that is also removable, came with my DC.

Bluetooth connectivity not wanting to play my podcasts or music. Phone is very much so connected, but “audio player not connected”. Have to shut the truck off completely. Restart. Hope it works then. ‘19 Platinum..

 

If you hold the radio volume/power button in for about 5-10 seconds, the system will reboot without having to shut down and restart your truck.

 

I think people in the back seat should also have control... I plan on adding a switch

 

Remote locks stopped working. The one key hole on 4 damn doors is a real pain. My neighbors see me doin laps around the truck to unlock the stupid thing, and im sure they callin me mook
