This is a 1987 Toyota Soarer GT Turbo, the JDM version of what became the Lexus SC in North America; This generation was never sold in America as a Toyota or a Lexus. This car may seem mostly stock, but the owner swapped in a 2JZ from a newer Supra; The car is fully functional, though the A/C system has been removed (the owner does plan on putting A/C back in). The owner recently moved to Pennsylvania from Texas because his wife got a new job here; This is my first time seeing a Soarer in person, but I am hoping to see more and more of these JDM Toyotas here in the states as they become legal to register and drive under the 25-year loophole (This example is a 1987, and has been legal here since 2012 as a result)!

5 or 6 speed? But yeah super unicorny that will by threat of heat stroke need a high powered A/C in Tejas!

 

I believe 5-speed, and it's not his daily driver, but he said he didn't mind driving it in the Texas heat with no A/C; He plans on putting A/C back in the car...

 

Factory Technics AM/FM stereo cassette, that unfortunately will not pick up any radio stations in North America as they use different frequencies in Japan; The cassette player will accept our cassettes though!

 

Intermittent windshield wipers!

1993 Supra; This car is in good shape and has low miles, but among other things the A/C system is not intact. The car is co-owned by a father and son who plan on removing the body kit and restoring the car back to stock form; This includes repainting the car in a factory red color, putting on stock wheels, and fixing the A/C...

This one guy at the event was using a 1995 Toyo camera to take pictures of both the 1987 Soarer and the 1993 Supra...

 

The thing about certain events in my area like this cars and coffee is that they generally break before 11am, and both the Soarer and the Supra left before I did...

Very nice (though I agree with Chris)!

 

We can't get enough organization around here for things like that. AZ people kinda suck

 

There are a lot of sweet rust-free vehicles in Arizona though!

 

The reason they picked this one is because it has such low miles and is in good condition; The biggest issue mechanically is that the A/C system is not intact.

 

We get parts scavengers from all over and they love our trash. I had a guy offer me $250 for the gas cover and hardware to hold it on.
