What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Got my oil changed today, as well as my front diff fluid.

 

I did it that way last time, best approach with standard tools. I could grind a chinese wrench sitting around here.

 

Wanted to check the mojo in my rear diff fluid. Looks pretty good since I recently changed it, smelled good, tasted ok, not an alarming amount of fuzz on the magnet. I’ll prolly use the old fluid for termite repellent, or something else

 

With or without the gas?

 

I was eyeballing the Harbor Freight 2.5 Aluminum floor jack today. Solo makes a mount and skid setup for it that is super slick. And $$$

 

The only bummer is you can't use the jack on hard ground with the sled on. I found that out the hard way.

 

Kind of a skid plate isn't it?

I like it because my oem bottle is useless to me. And it has a mount. And it's good for off pavement. I don't like the $500 attached to it.

I can solve the skid on asphalt/concrete issue.

 

Mid May. I'm still debating how important it is to have high pressure water by then....

 

Maybe just LP water? Or gravity fed water…….

 

I think some version of water should be on the list. I better start listing before long.

Yeah, works well on dirt or sand where it can slide a bit. On pavement the skid plate prevents the jack from moving, so it will do wild things like stand on one end or drop your truck. For dedicated trail use its okay, just know you can't use it on pavement anymore.

 

I'm glad you mentioned that. I forgot the jack rolls toward the truck as you lift...

The sled needs a sled.

 

One of the dudes ive camped with swares by pump sprayers for doing trucker baths and just washing his feet off before hitting the sack. I’ve wanted to try it but maybe DoNA I’ll get to check out the madness

Yup. I've seen some jacks where a sled attaches without ditching the wheels, that might be ideal. I have a HB 3 ton with the sled kit taking up space in my garage. It was a huge pain to wedge the jack into the sled, so when I figured out what it did on pavement I was pretty bothered. At the time that was my only jack and I lived in apartments where I had to do sketchy ninja weekend work on my truck. That increased the hazard factor.

Maybe the Pro-Eagle becomes something to look at after the money involved for a sled setup. Hmm.

 

Honestly I'm probably gonna just find a mega lift bottle jack and roll with that. Less weight, takes up less space, does the same thing.

 

But this has wheels and a sled!!! Can't say much about weight or space, though.

Then you still need to buy the mounting kit, if that’s what you were after as well

 

JEGS makes one as well for their 3-ton aluminum and they sell replacement seals for repair.

Only skid plate though, not that mount extension.

 

Which I can't find. But the big wheel ones add $250...

I'm glad I went the bottle jack route. Feels safer to me and fits in that storage compartment under the rear seat.
