Just kind of bored and wanted to hear some opinions.
I’ve tried out a bunch of different lift heights on my truck. Started out with 3 inch and hated the squat. Switched to 2 inch and thought it looked great, but later down the road I told myself i’d lift the front and back more.

2 inches in front was great for me since it created equal height from the front and rear. Not too high in front and not too low in the rear. I rolled with that for quite a while.

Decided to upgrade to coilover lift instead of leveling spacers, so I ended up getting 2.5 inches of lift from the coilovers I got. Figured while I was at it, I’d put an AAL in the rear to make up for the extra half inch.

That was great until I thought there was too much rake. I thought about it for a while.

Now, recently, I threw on an extra 1 inch leveling spacer to even things out. I really dig it now. Just a little taller in the rear for when you load it up with gravel!!!

This is what I got from ground to fender with 285/75r16s

    Front: 38 1/4
    Rear: 40

Am I the only one that thinks the rear of the bed on these trucks tilt downwards way more than other trucks? I feel like having 1st gen tundras with the nose high looks funny

    Anyways, here’s the question.
What do you prefer? A stock rake lift or a leveled front? There’s also rear squat too

Not really looking for advice at all, but just want to know what the community feels on it. Feel free to post pictures.

Photos from various sources. Sorry if I post anyone’s truck on here.

It's funny you bring this up. I think about it whenever I see a truck with a "leveling" kit. Not so much on First Gen Tundras... more on later Tundras, and particularly on GM trucks.
Certainly a lot of this is subjective, but there are some universal design principles that apply. One being that positive rake (front lower than rear) -- whether it's physically measurable or done with design features that give the rear the appearance of being higher than the front -- gives a vehicle a more aggressive stance. Negative rake (front higher than rear) gives a vehicle a more passive stance. Personally, I think a sagging rear end makes any vehicle look kinda dumpy -- like something is broken or worn out.

I think leveled looks fine. Really, once you start messing with suspension the stance of your truck becomes a little unstable in terms of level front to back or even side to side. My suspension while slightly taller than stock is soft enough that if I am not parked on flat ground the front end will be higher or lower than the rear. Mine has been stock, had the squat rake, perfectly level, and now is about an inch higher in the rear. Depending on where I park it is still all of the above.

    Hey bmf.
I think I read on your iron man build that you were going to put an AAL, but didn’t get around to it or something. Are you going to lift the front more to level it out again?

I prefer rake. If you just drive and cruise it, level is nice but as soon as you haul or tow something you are nose up....and I am not a fan of nose up

Yeah, but being nose up while you haul is the exception not the norm. I'd rather have the stance I like most of the time and squat a bit when I haul weight than have the stance I don't want most of the time just to be balanced when hauling weight.

I can't be sure anymore. I've changed it so many times I don't have a real baseline to gauge from anymore. I think its around 2-2.5 up front and around 1-1.5 in the rear. Its slightly tall in the rear and I'm waiting to make another change and see what the outcome is. If my front end doesn't have to go up then I may lower the rear 3/4 of an inch to get back to level.

Yes. My plan is to put the AAL in, then raise the coilovers to match and get a good level, then get another alignment.

This. 100% but even more so for me. I never tow. In fact, I removed my receiver to install my new springs and just sold it to @Sirfive. If you're not towing, then level is fine. And if you do tow, just squat when you tow. Level is the perfect choice.

Leveled with the caveat of more tire than wheel, and 6 lugs, so 6, 12, or 18,… spokes.
