Just this morning I started getting a Trailer Brake Error message on the instrument panel. The traction control light came on as well. Last night I put new Bilstein 5100 shocks on the rear of the truck. I searched the threads and saw other people with the same issue, but didn’t see anyone mention doing suspension work prior to the message coming on. Do you think I could have bumped something back there while changing the shock out? Should I just pull the negative battery cable and reconnect to see if it goes away? Just interested to see if anyone has had this happen before. Thanks.

Id disconnect battery and see if it clears first. If it returns start checking things. Hey, you are about 3 years in on that truck, about the time the factory batteries start going bad. Battery going out will fault a lot of different alerts, so something to consider if it is the original.

Thanks! Yeah I’ve been waiting for the battery to start showing signs of going out. Used to be able to get 5 years out of a battery. Last 2 trucks I had the first battery only lasted 3 years.

I had this issue with mine. Dealership updated the program and it fixed the issue.

I’m not really sure what fixed it but it hasn’t been on for almost 3 weeks. I disconnect the negative cable on the battery for 30 minutes and put it back on and it was still there. I had an alignment and new tires put on the next morning and I don’t know if it was something alignment related or if the tire place did something to it, but the lights and error message was gone when I picked the truck up.

Nice that it's not on! Strange that it just disappeared with out knowing why though. Tow safe!
