Went to change my Transmission fluid and found this...

    My mistake. It's not the fill plug-not sure why it has RTV on this or what it is. Anyone what this is and where the 4.6L transmission fill plug is?

    He said fill plug so assuming its right above the pan.

    damn that has the potential of being a real issue if you have to drill it out and retap and drop the pan.

    Absolutely. Not sure why it was leaking there or what that purpose that piece serves.

    Maybe other 4.6 owners can chime in if theirs has the same thing or not. Seems suspect but I cant imagine why that would leak, and it looks pretty professionally applied so maybe it was a thing from the factory in the earlier days as a precaution.

    Not sure why. The fill port is on the passenger side. :confused:

    No problem. I just couldn’t see what I was looking at very well in the first pictures. Still don’t know what it’s for though??? Maybe some of the more knowledgeable members can chime in.
