    Need your help guys….
I’m looking at upgrading my 08 2wd for a 2016 4wd. It’s an SR5 like mine. But when you run the VIN it comes up as SR5/TRD PRO. And this is where it gets weird.

This truck seems something of an enigma. It’s got the black “TOYOTA” grill like a PRO. But yet it’s not a PRO. According to a 2016 online brochure, the ONLY way to get that grill is on the PRO. But TRD PRO isn’t stamped into the bed nor has badging inside. But, it sits like a PRO. Could possibly have been aftermarket lift?
It’s got the black 20 inch rims with the weird shaped T on the center cap.
    TSS OFF ROAD badging.
What am I looking at here??? A little confused….
    I’d add pics if I knew how….

ps, upon test drive Wednesday, it had a problem going in and out of 4wd. They’re supposed to be fixing it and putting on new brake rotors/pad…
I’m waiting for a second test drive. Thoughts on the 4wd system?? Should I chance it?? They're asking 35k with 97k miles....

I'm pretty sure the grille was changed. No bed stamps as you mentioned. Alot of guys here swap to the Pro grille. You can post the VIN and we can look it up.

Definitely not a pro, has pro upgrades but pros have the stamped bedsides like you mentioned

It’s an sr5 with tss package and pro grill and some sort of lift. The bumper caps and headlights are chrome and the mirrors are not color matched, those are other giveaways

35k for 97k miles sound fair to y’all? KBB thinks so. Assuming they figure out and repair what’s wrong with the 4wd!!

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! Not a Pro, though it looks like someone tried to make it one. They left off the hood scoop.

TSS if a gulf regional dealer package. All it is is a wheel / AT tire and running Board package.
    Toyota - Sport - Series

the off-road just had black rims with AT tire.

the Sport Series like mine had light rims with a street tire

35k seems like an excellent condition price m, with it having issues doesn’t seem like an excellent condition if that’s all that’s wrong with it.

The body and interior are excellent. But that 4wd scares me…..
The car fax is clean though. Two owners. No accidents. Regular service. No damage or issues reported….

And a lot of other stuff. But I do love that grille. Hate the chromed out one they changed to in 2015/2016!

Yeah, I have a 2020 1794, and BY FAR the worst part is the all chrome grille. It will be replaced at the first reasonable excuse.

    This ^.
The TSS is a dealer add on with floor mats, step tubes, 20” wheels, rear window tint, spray in bed liner, LED bed lights, tow package, and the TSS stickers. Came with blackout or chrome trim. The vin will only come back as SR5.
I changed the grill on mine too.

Thanks for all your help guys, but the MFs sold the truck right out from under me after working with them for three days, and being told it's getting the necessary repairs and they'd notify when complete and Id get first crack at it....

And people wonder why used car folks get a bad rep......

I'm sure most of us have had this happen to us. Count your blessings on this one. If they said they were going to fix it and sold it from under you, I'd be willing to bet that the new owner probably didn't get a fixed 4WD system. So, who knows what else they could be hiding.

I've had dealerships use me as competition bait for some poor girl who thought I was going to buy it and made her make a quick rash decision. And all at the same time, I thought I was working with the dealer to do multiple test drives to make sure the vehicle was right for me.

Sounds to me you still have a reliable Tundra, so I wouldn't be in a rush to find the next best thing unless it was perfect. You got time, my man and good luck.

I’d like that grille for my SR5. Not a big chrome fan

If I want something I give a deposit. Otherwise it’s free reign. In this market stuff doesn’t sit long. There will be more.

I agree, this was looking like a pretty good deal until the VIN showed it to be a Flex Fuel. Sorry but that's a deal killer for me. Them selling it to someone else might have saved you some headache. Seems to me the Flex Fuel and just more complicated and seems to have more issues than Non Flex. My personal opinion. I would never buy a Flex Fuel Truck
