That happened to me once when I forgot about a pocket knife in a bag. They were cool about it. After a few questions gave me the option to take it to the car or donate it to their “collection”.

Portland has a post office drop box right by TSA. You can mail it home to yourself if you want...my wife had to do that once.
I've got a small leatherman that has scissors but no knife blade - I still get stopped about 50% of the time.

It always amazes me how they allow knitting needles but not knives. Do you realize how much damage can be done with a knitting needle?

Since we all love pictures. Here it is on the camelbak. Fits exactly how I hoped, snuggly but easy to grab if needed.

Dunked my Heretic Manticore in Matagorda Bay. I'm going to send it in to get proper maintenance, but man it's disappointing. Only consolation is that I've been neglecting a Benchmade I bought to EDC, and it just hasn't found its way into my pocket while the Manticore's in there; so it'll get a few miles on it.

Casting a bait net, the net hooked the clip and pulled it out of my pocket. I had no clue until it came back up (thankfully) with the net. Learned a lesson...

There’s a lot of places that I unclip and let my knife ride deep in my pants pocket. I’ve lost a few from the clip catching and pulling it out of my pocket

I should have added 'drunk'. I was casting the bait net while drunk. I likely would have left it in the house we were renting if I'd been sober. Next time it stays at home, and the $24 Kershaw I put in a drawer a couple of years ago gets some pocket time.

A good friend came to me with this old Schade knife, and a request. He’s in his late 50’s and his mother passed away about 8 years ago and his dad is in failing health. This knife was his mother’s, and his request is for me to keep the handle scales in tact and re-build it with some of my custom Damascus so that he can give it to his dad as a special gift. Quite a challenge. It would be so much easier to make it with new scales. I know his dad and know how much it will mean. Wish me luck! I hope it doesn’t get screwed up.
As you can see from the pictures, it’s a poorly made knife to begin with.062103DA-821B-4398-AEDD-D88F336D4B03.jpg910DDB28-B28B-42A1-BADE-A8DA3A517FB2.jpgC63C58C6-B06A-4BE8-97EE-30E6E4577AF6.jpg

Been looking for something to do with this dude, since I got a different fishing knife. Seriously, it's just been sitting here on my desk for the past 3 weeks... It's yours if you want it.

Thank you. It would make a nice addition to my “wall of shame”, but it would probably cost more to ship than the value of the knife. I could get one with free shipping from Amazon, lol.
It’s actually a pretty cool shape and I will keep a template for making one in the future.

I actually had one of those Schrade sharpfingers - the exact knife your friend gave you. It was a gift from my grandpa, which made it my favorite for a while. Definitely made in China but I actually liked it a lot. It sharpened well (needed it often) and the shape made a great small game skinning knife. I always wanted something similar out of D2.

Grabbed another couple of Bugouts. One showed up today. This one is in 20CV steel. Lock release is a bit grainy feeling out of the box. Do you guys oil your knives? Any reason I shouldn’t just shoot it with a tiny bit of WD-40?

No WD-40... Go get some proper oil. WD-40 was never meant to be a lubricant, even though it has that quality.

    Sexy knife.

A little gun oil, light machine oil, ‘3 in 1’ will do fine.
    WD = water displacement.
When you find your toolbox left outside in the rain, spray with WD-40, wipe everything off, and then spray with penetrating oil

So, I have an extra forge I’m thinking of parting with, if anyone is interested. It’s a 2 burner Venturi. It’s attached to a welded steel cart on castors and isn’t really something that could be shipped. PM me if you’re interested.

    Mission accomplished!
I think it’s pretty nice. The file work isn’t as crisp as I like because I couldn’t take much off the original handle scales. I’m glad to have been able to get the old widower this memory treasure that had been his wife’s.C42C3A5C-7AE5-43A3-8001-C396534D3C52.jpg944BFE4A-002B-4681-9757-39314943B29A.jpgCA65331B-35AF-48EC-AE0F-A770FAF6E019.jpg
