that’s what both my original (black one) and the replacement (white from Corolla said).

hate to be a pain but what about on the other side. That’s where the numbers seem to be different. On the white part like this

I’m pretty sure it has the same numbers as the other side. My truck has 4 wires too.

Thanks. That’s the one I ordered this time. Odd that @FredB32 has the same one and the 4 wires and his didn’t work, unless he got a bad one

I'm at a loss. Let me double check it tomorrow...I put 453840 above... So maybe I'm slightly dyslexic, or I do in fact have a different one. I might order another one and just pull them all apart to see if we can figure out the differences lol

I think your chances would be better searching by car and checking the VIN it came from. If you search for a part number it says it’ll fit for all types of vehicles.

I get that just odd that the same part number wouldn’t work the same

That's exactly my concern. There's a cursive it's not the part itself, but the wiring/connection that's different and causing the lack of full functionality. But I honestly don't know.

So I just drove to my in-laws and pulled there’s from their sequoia. It’s the same part that I ordered from eBay (which was from a Corolla). It did not work in my truck but the Corolla one worked in their sequoia.

So now I’m definitely stumped. If the one that I just ordered comes in and does not work then I’ll have to find somewhere that sells one with the vin listed

Does the in laws from the sequoia work properly in your tundra?

@FredB32 I’m sure you’ve already tried this but I did learn that you do not want to have the dial all the way up. If you roll it all the way up and click it in place it will not dim the gauges with the headlights

at first I thought the part from the Corolla did not work in the sequoia which was weird bc it was the same part number but then I realized that his was not rolled all the way up so when I unclicked my part it worked in his car

but like I said neither worked in my truck

I did a search for Rav4 and Tundra limited and was not able to find anything listed with a VIN. Sounds like you guys will have to wait until they post one that is from a Limited.

I have a 2012 SR5 premium Sequoia. This model came with the INFO, SELECT/RESET, SETUP "MPG buttons" that will now control the Optrion gauge. The LCD on middle of the the dash still shows outside temp and time.

I have the 5.7 Flex Fuel with the Tow Package. This includes the transmission temp below the tech. The replacement gauge came out of a 2012 FFV Limited w/ tow package and was fully compatible. The gas gauge and distance to empty all appear to be working properly.

The used cluster that I bought had a few scratches on the lens cover. You can order a replacement Part Number: 838520C880 which Supersedes 83852-0C880. These part numbers are for the the darker tinted lens cover required on the Optiron cluster.

This is my original one and it has the same numbers as the dimmer from the limited that I bought. I wouldn’t use those numbers on the body as a reference lol.

So it sounds like there's something internally different to the dimmers themselves (not reflected in the outer number stamps), or something in the wiring that triggers it. I guess we'll maybe have a little more info once @Shanet421 gets his dimmer. I'm contemplating ordering another one I can tie to a vehicle that is in the list I posted earlier...what's another $10-20 right? I've already got 2 IC programmers that I don't know how to use :|

@Showtz would you mind sending me your VIN number off the donor and your truck? I'll add them to my tracking list to verify the cross-referencing and use of the Optitron.

My new CH314 or whatever showed up last night. Do you have some pics of the mods you made? I'm thinking all I may need to do is scratch off the 3.3V trace and cut the one leg off the chip where it indicates in the video. The little adapter I have from my other programmer (does two of these things make it official that I'm a BIOS chip programmer...or that I have no idea what I'm doing?) can be used as it was specifically for the 5V 8/16 SOIP chips and should have all the traces and everything needed for the 93 series chips.

So the new rheostat I order from eBay shipped today but after I received shipping notification I received an email from seller with the vin, looked it up and it’s from an sr5. So assuming it’s not going to work

emailed a few sellers on eBay and so far none know the vins of vehicles the parts are from

    will keep searching

still think it’s odd that one from a platinum model sequoia wouldn’t have worked when people have used the optitron gauge clusters from those vehicles

$50 bucks is a steep gamble

if the one that comes in doesn’t work I’m just going to wait until I can find one from a limited/platinum tundra. That way it has no reason not to work and if at that point it doesn’t work then I guess I’m just SOL!!

bc at this point the ones I thought should have worked as well have not.

I didn't even look at the price, honestly...but yeah, I'd agree.

You could try this one - I made them an offer for $8 and they declined, countered at $12 but I'm planning on just waiting for the right deal, as they want $10 shipping...

That’s why I didn’t want to take any chances on a cheap dimmer and not have it work right. I paid $26 after taxes and not in the predicament like some of you guys are lol.
