Not enough lift

    Hello everyone,
    I have a quick question. I am running king 2.5 coilovers with 35's on my 2015 tundra. I am unhappy with the ride height. I have about 3" of lift but want an additional 1.5 inches up front. I took my truck to an offroad place and they said I could not raise it any higher without putting a whole different kit on it. Are they right? Is there any way I could put spacers on it? If so, what else would i need to do. I don't do a lot of offroading. This is purely for aesthetics. I want my truck to look a certain way and it doesn't. I would hate to get rid of those shocks. Any help would be great, I'm stumped.

    You'll probably need a diff drop so yeah a different kit is your best bet

    Do you know how many threads are showing above the adjustment coller and the top of the coil over?

    I understand that, but is there any type of lift where I can keep the king coilovers? I know fox has the coilovers with bds. I just don't want to lose the kings if I don't have too.

    At 2.5", you're in the sweet spot for performance and handling off road without sacrificing too much of your truck's on-pavement manners. When you go over 2-3" of lift up front, the geometry of your CV joints and upper and lower control arms is thrown way out of whack. You can correct that with something like the BDS kit, but your truck's performance and handling go to total crap compared to OEM. You also might as well tie an open parachute to your tow hitch with all the increase in wind drag.

    All that might be worth it to you! I'm not making a value judgement here. But yeah, the shop is correct. The question is, are you the kind of guy who is willing to pay $$ for a couple more inches? :D

    My first thought is spacers to go on top of your coilovers and lift blocks in the rear, but I don't think you'd want to do that. That would be a huge spacer.

    Yes, you will need to do some research on whatever bracket lifts you may consider and make some calls. For instance RC has bracket lifts you have the option of using spacers or lifted coilovers. So if you want to do this, you are going to need to contact the companies for the bracket lifts you are considering and explain that you want to keep the kings and see what they say. There may be additional components needed to make everything play together. You are just going to need to do some calls and research.

    If the Kings are only good for up to 3" you won't be able to do anymore with them suspension lift-wise. Body lift though...you can easily do 2-3"

    You are aiming at bracket lift territory. The bad news is, those are fairly expensive and usually require you to cut the cross member in order to lower your front diff to the new bracket.

    The good news is, some of these kits are intended to work with stock shock/coil assemblies and they use a big spacer on top. If you find one of those kits you should be able to retain your Kings and raise the coil retainer (lowering the amount of lift).

    Before you go too far, I would recommend some real consideration on what you want from your truck, and do some research on what others here have done. You can check out the 2nd gen (or 2.5 gen) builds section and find what others have done. Drop some questions in their threads, bet you'll get good feedback from somebody who has done what you're considering. This is worth doing so you can avoid regret.

    I was asking about the threads your kings are showing because I also have Kings tuned by Accurune. I lifted it to show 13 threads and also put a CoachBiilder shim on top. This gives me about a 4” lift.

    I also have spc upper contol arms but mi e squeaks everytime i go over a speed bump/dip. Do you have the same issue? Im running king 2.5 in shocks set to their highest (gives 3 inch lift) whith 35x12.5 in tires with an 18 in rim. I originally wanted the shocks to have a lower setting but was told to avoid rubbing it had to be set to 3", i also have a bmc.

    My SPC upper control arms do squeak and I have to line them on occasion to quite them.

    Ill try that. According to spc they state that there is no need to lube because it should last the lifetime of rhw boot. Which is why i went with them instead of getting a uniball UCA in the first place.
