So I have a 2017 CM 4x4 and I am looking to lift it but would like honest opinions outside of a shop that may be trying to screw me. So I am looking to run 35" tires on 18" wheels, very interested in a lift that will give it a decent look, would consider 33" as well just depends on a lift. Some ppl say I need a 6" to run 35's while others are saying a 4" can clear 35's. Overall I just want it to have a nice stance and look, it's my daily driver so not looking to go crazy with it, so just looking for advice and recommendations. I live in Northern California if anyone can point me in the right direction. Thank you

FWIW, I'm running 34.6 (285/65/R20) on a 3.5" lift. Those tires fit fine when I had a 3" spacer lift as well. No rubbing, or cutting using factory wheels, although its about a pinky-width from my UCAs.

You do not need a 6" or 4" lift to fit 35" tires. You can fit a LT285/75R18 (35") tire on OE 18x8" wheels if you raise the front about two inches. I'm currently running LT285/70R18 Nitto Exo Grapplers on OE 18x8" wheels with some King 2.5 coilovers set for about 2" of lift and SPC Light Racing upper control arms (you don't actually "need" these but it helps with alignment a lot and has more travel).

Thank you both I appreciate it. I actually do want to run just a 18" wheel as well. Just want it to have a nice look and stance but still be able for my wife n kids to get in comfortably

It'll be fine with 35s on a 3+ lift. Offset, brand of tire, and brand of wheel will determine what kind of rubbing you'll have. I didn't have to cut any metal, just a littLe plastic from the bumper.

If you get the right tire width and offset you can fit them with a 3" lift. Where in NorCal are you?

Cool. There's quite a few of us in the Bay Area. Keep an eye out for this thread. https://www.tundras.com/posts/246252/

There was a member on TT who ran 35x12.5 with Bilstein kit. His wheel offset was either 30 or 35. I have 3.5 OME lift and cannot go larger than 34.5 that I currently have without having to cut something serious. 18 mm offset makes it that much closer to the body mount. If you run 0 offset, you are limited to about 33. Of course, if you are willing to cut your truck up, then that's another story. As I recall, the Tundra Pro that won Baja 1000 had 37 inch tires.

The 17" wheels I'm selling right now fit a 315/70 (34.5") tire with no rubbing except removing the front mud flaps. They are 25mm offset and 5.75" backspacing. The new wheels I'm running are 0 offset and they rub hard without a cab mount chop and front bumper trimming. Stock wheels should be okay with a 2-3 lift and minor pastic trimming.

You'll be fine with 3/1 and 35's depending on the offset of the wheel.

I was in the same position that your in, went ahead and got the 35s. 18x8 +60 trd pro wheels on 35x11.5r18 nitto trail grapplers. I'm on pro suspension so it's around 2/1 lift. Without any fender modifications they fit fine rubs a little when fully locked reversing but I haven't even bothered moving the plastics forward, there's plenty of threads showing how to make clearance keeping the liner and Keeping it clean looking stock

    http://www.tundratalk.net/forums#/topics/88918?page=1

But I could have easily went with the 12.5" tire and put a spacer to wide it out but I found a killer deal on the 11.5"

Are you near the Bay Area and if so do you recommend any shops to do a lift?

I'm still in the same boat. I want to go 35s, but I think I'm going to get 295/7018, which is a 34.3 I think and 11.6" width. So it's pretty close to 35, but give you a little bit more clearance.

Yea I'm thinking the Rough Country 4" lift with 35's or close to it on 18's

295/70/18 is what I ran last time and was 34.5"
When my Coopers wear out, I'll prob go back to that size just to recoupe a tad bit of more power back

That's another good reason I'm thinking those instead of 35s. Gotta be some weight difference, so a little more power, better MPG on the 295 vs 35s, although I'm sure it's very little.

My buddy @dcsleeper408 installed mine for a really good price. He's in this forum and he's done a few of the guys' here. I highly recommend him as you know he'll do it right. Give him a PM. And about the wheels, most 35's are 12.50" wide. That's where you'll run into problems. 295/70/18's are slightly narrower and about 34.5" and you'll have a lot less trimming to do.

I am running 35.4" Tires 295/65/20's I have a 3" lift front and 2" rear. I can tell you with my set up (+12mm) offset on the wheels, you will rub. I need to do the cab mount chop and I am rubbing on the inside of the front bumper which I have trimmed and removed the small mud flaps. I should have went with straight 35" tires which actually measure 34.5 and I would have almost cleared.

so yours is a 18mm offset, the wheel I'm looking it has a 20 offset, do you know if that would rub?

Did you have to drop differential for this set up? Which leveling kit?
