What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Been about a year without a washer fluid bottle. Gf wants it so she can take better pics on the trip. Nothing wanted to fit except for a Nalgene. Only problem is, 34oz doesn’t last long!

 

you could just make a harness to move the plug and run new line... put a larger tank along the frame and make it easy to remove and fill up.. that would be what i'd do if i wanted more fluid but no more stock location

im just weird. i have an obsession with using the blank space outside the frame rail but tucked up... and i really cant figure out why. LOL

 

Today I replaced the timing belt, timing belt tensioner pulley, idler pulley, air/fuel ratio sensor, serpentine belt and water pump at 107K miles.

 

No pics? We like pics. Like, a lot.

 

I can take a picture of the engine but that's not that exciting

 

You’d be surprised what gets us excited!

 

Around here we sort people into two piles. Manglers and non-manglers. Without pics, we won’t know where to file you. Some of us drift between the two depending on the job. My timing belt job was pretty tits. My passenger side O2 sensor replacement may involve some broken studs and a U clamp bandaid that I was gonna replace later. It’s been 8 years……

 

Reminds me of this scene. I've been saying "we keep it on there for profiling purposes" ever since.

After finishing inline fuel filter and bracket install, chose to piddle some more on another project. While I had the combination meter out, I noticed a 1 conductor pink wire and connector. After chasing EWD, feel confident it is for Glass Breakage Sensor. Has anyone got this sensor or installed and can offer any assistance if I choose to install. What all would I need and what do I have now that aids in the installation other than pink wire and connector.

 

If you find that sensor, attach it to a bracket on top of your catalytic converter

Pretty sure it just stuffs in an opening between steering column & door. Insert GBS, plug in wire, Bob's Your Uncle.
Of course if you don't have the alarm system it'll be sending signal to nowhere I expect.

Funny how Toyota puts it left of steering wheel, pretty sure the BMW put it in front of the shift lever, & IIRC in the Saab it was under the back seat. Guess if you break a window you'll hear it everywhere in the car, so likely just location that uses the least amount of wire per vehicle.

I agree, but they aren’t mine. I do have a set of 5100’s on my 2000 and 4600’s on my 2019 though

 

I have 4600s all around on mine but I did put 5100 in the Ferd rear end. When I decide to get around to it, I'm going to put the 5100 in the Ferd front too.

 

Installed previously mentioned 5160s and gave 'em a test ride. Definitely needed that.

After the old shock end rounded off (even with locked down tight vise grips) I went to cut the nut like everyone else but even for someone that cuts metal a lot it seemed a bitch. Chain wrench on upper shock body proved EASY, would recommend and Tekton makes a nice one

Ive bought a ton in the last 3 years and have had zero issues the stuff is all super solid. Had one Amazon Used/Warehouse item that came damaged by the previous purchasure. Sent Tekton an honest note and within 15 minites had an order confirmation for new replacement. Cant beat that.

 

Great customer service from Tekton. I've purchased tool kits from them off Amyzon and have never had an issue.

Decided to replace my window regulators and motor assemblies.
My driver side was completely broken and my passenger was just slowing up and not sealing right.
We are all squared away now though. Nice and smooth.

 

Thanks for the heads up, agreed its a bitch of a job, My top nut was rust welded so I found that a 12" blade on a sawzall fits perfectly, coming in between the frame and bed from the wheel well, had it off in 20 seconds. I cut into the top rubber bush first and that secures the saw to make the rest of the cut if that makes sense?
