Hello everyone, I just bought my first Toyota after being a GM guy for my entire adult life. It’s a 2020 Tundra crewmax and so far I love it….BUT…..there is one thing that is driving me nuts and it’s the doors, is there anyway to fix the cheap “tinny” sound they make when closing them? Thanks

Roll down your rear window, it'll help you forget about it.

I must be in the minority. I drove a '13 F150 prior to the Tundra, and their doors 'wobbled' whenever you shut them. In comparison the Tundra doors are solid as hell.

I've heard sound deadening (which I'm about to do on my truck) helps.

hmm.... when i close my doors it sounds like a fart produced by royalty and released on silk sheets. OP should have bought a platinum!

Yep, will sound like a Lexus once you put some good sound control in the doors. I have a bit more than needed with the stereo upgrade, but there in no resonance in the doors at all :)

Right? Wife flat told me she'd be SERIOUSLY pissed if I traded my truck in on a new one and it had no sliding rear window. LOL

No I’m good, I actually use mine like a truck and not a pavement princess. Your royalty farting doors wouldn’t stay platinum for very long

@Coal Dragger can we pass a note to the desk of Mike Sweers please? Toyota has the fake exhaust sound dialed in. We need to get on the task of fake satisfying door shut sounds next.

Have the engineering team put a sensor in the hinge that tells when the door is about to shut and activate the thumper machine. We should be able to fit one of those bass exciters in each door to vibrate on queue. No sense having the sound without the feeling.

Make it part of an add on package so that customers will pay for it without knowing. Let's stick it into anything above the SR5 package, that way they know extra money spent on the higher end models was well spent.

WOW… I’m honored!! I’ve been a member here for 3 hours and already found the resident Dbag… I’m simply asking why my $46,000 truck door sounds like 1998 Kia when I shut it… dang, you sure are cool

Easy there flamin' hot! There is room in this forum for humor and if you didn't find that funny then I don't care what you want. Block me if you can't handle a joke.

You've already got responses to your question. Go throw some dynomat at your $46k truck and hope you don't break dozens of fragile plastic clips in the process. Keep in mind its a truck and not an air tight luxury car, it never will be either no matter what you do to it. Some of us bought trucks because we need trucks, we don't care about the sound the door makes when it's closed.

I've noticed the door does sound a bit hollow when I close it, but I just figured it was because how large it was. My 4runner didnt make that sound but the doors werent nearly as big.

See, now here’s the humor… you acted like a sarcastic douche and I called you out on it and now you’re butt hurt. All you had to initially do was say dynamat and be careful for the fragile clips. And I would have said thanks buuuut now you assume I don’t use my truck for truck things because I ask why my door sounds like a tin can. Get over yourself and enjoy your weekend trips to Home Depot hauling plywood because “truck things”

I acted how I always act, with humor after seeing this silly question has been answered. You've got thin skin if any to start calling me a douche and commenting on how cool I am. "Call me out" and assume all you'd like about me, you'll never see me worry about the sound my door makes. My doors don't sound flimsy.

You test drove it, I'm sure it made that sound when you did, you still dropped $46k on a tin can. Who is butthurt? Who is the douche? The hard-core truck guy worried about how his doors sound and wanting to start internet fights, no doubt. Battle on keyboard warrior!

The one thing I noticed about the rear doors is that they don’t “fall” shut as easily as any of my other vehicles, Toyotas included. Maybe the cab is just better sealed than my other vehicles? Maybe it’s that the door doesn’t weigh much for its size and it doesn’t have the mass to overcome the air pressure and just fall shut?

Either way, be glad this is your biggest complaint.

And welcome to the forum! It is actually really cool; there are some amazing threads (hunting, fishing, knives, tundras in scenic places, tundras & bikes, home improvement, ATVs, just to name a few). You’ll feel more at home if you take the (mostly) good-natured jokes in stride. Just my two cents.
