I thought I would start a build thread
    2015 Platinum Crewmax White
Leaving the dealer . I actually special ordered it in March, because I wanted a non flex fuel version, which at the time, they didn't offer in the southwest. I ordered the typical, garnish, with the platinum, along with adding the Amp Research, steps.

Here would be the real reason for not getting a Flex Fuel model. The Supercharger was waitng at the dealer, before the truck arrived. installed with 8 miles on the clock

Also waiting at the dealer was this

    Transfer Flow replacement fuel tank.

The tech at the dealer, said it would be no problem to do the tank install, while installing the s/c ,since the tank needed to be dropped anyway. It only added 1 hour ,to the install. He said they use every available inch, in that tank location

Here is what 3/4 of a tank of gas looks like

After I brought it home, this was waiting for install.
Ba Muffler dual TRD Replacement , with TRD Tailpipes. I painted them with several coats of semi gloss grill paint and heat treated them before the install . This is a mellow system, since I really wanted to keep the drone and cabin noise down, but it is louder than the TRD

    More stuff to add
Engel Refrigerator, will be put behind my seat (since we don't have many passengers) Easily removed when I do. It will stay in the truck along with having a dual battery, solar panel, Ham Radio, cb, and more

    IMG_1705_zpsnenjpyk2_eefde0169d67e120a83ea0af2f9b568020d9410c.jpg

This build will not be one of these way over the top, spacer lift builds.
The plan is to run 35" tires with a full suspension under it. I am building this to drive, camp explore and even have a little romping fun .
I decided I love the look of the Rock Warrior wheels, that falls in line with the function of this truck 17" , light, strong and will fit, with close to the back spacing I want to run. More on this later
A company named OMF actually can take these and machine the front lip, to add true bead locks and rings . I am considering this, but the extra maintenance involved and cost to do it, will be factors that I consider. It would look awesome though
    trd_2_zps9kt69l21_4c5b55dc0ad204f8b15b40006305170b53f9e79e.jpg

    ARE Z Series shell
This will fall in line with my future mods. I will be doing a hard shelled , Roof Top Tent. I also have a 17 ft Viking camper, i will pull to events and destinations, but the Roof Top Tent will be in place, for when I pull a car trailer, with a first Gen 4 Runner, for harder trails and rock crawling . Then I still have camping off the ground, which is big for the wife .

More to follow Next up... suspension

    Suspension

Is planned out and on order .
I decided long travel would be way over the top and not practical for the purpose of this build, but I wanted to have a really well put together mid travel set up, for when I want to put some of the extras power to use off-road
    Here is the plan

    Total Chaos
http://chaosfab.com/ will add additional shock hoops for the front, along with other key stuff to make the suspension work correctly

We will be adding Fox 2.5 remote resi's, with dual compression and Fox 2.5 triple bypass, for the secondary shock, custom valved . http://www.ridefox.com/

The rear will be Fox 2.5 remote resi's and Deaver is making a custom ordered spring, that will give me a little compromise between super flexy and a little load carrying. TC will provide the new shackles. I will add Firestone 2445 air bags, for the additional trailer weight, when I pull the 4 Runner.
Install is set for end of July, since some of it is custom made

    Other things in the works

Install my ExtremeAire compressor system, with tank, under the truck , probably where the spare tire is, along with a Horn Blaster air horn, for distracted drivers. :)
Spare tire will be mounted inside the bed, along with some sort of storage system.

Here is the link to my install on my previous FJ Cruiser. it will be a similar install on the Tundra
ExtremeAire Compressor install - Toyota FJ Cruiser Forum

    Lighting
Baja Designs will be my choice, once again
Once I get the rack for the Roof Top Tent, bumpers, front and rear, I will design a complete lighting system, that will give me the coverage I had with my FJ
I am working with a lighting control company to design the best possible solution, for controlling all my electronics. It should be awesome.

Off-road navigation will probably be handled, by I-pad mounted with GAIA navigation

More to follow including when I decide on tires

A Care crate arrived from Toyota today

Welcome. WOW! So when do you plan to do some serious mods?(sarc) Like everything. Do you know if transfer flow makes a tank for the double cab? Guess I can call them. Their ph# on the label. Very cool truck.

Just checked. Transfer flow does make a DC version for $1179.00. Thinking you should get over 600 mile range. I checked out T Flow's website last year when I bought my Tundra and I thought all they made was for diesel. This has moved into second place behind the limited slip. I have a tendency to drive long distances at times where fuel is scarce. Good luck keeping your foot of the gas. Heh heh. Super nice truck. Well thought out.

    Thank you
I couldn't drive it for more than 1/2 throttle, for the first 500 miles, but I could feel the beast in the peddle, waiting to unleash holy hell !!.
After the 600 mile mark, I pulled out of a side road and romped it on a roll, doing about 10-15 mph. I literally giggled, like a little school girl. I call it my 7000# sportscar . It is a real pleasure to drive. Smooth, hard acceleration, that never seems to go away

Thanks. This is what keeps me going. I love building. This is a bigger challenge than the FJ . EVERYONE has a huge , lifted full size truck, that gets attention because of the bling. I want this to be remembers for a truck you want to drive... everywhere.

    Thank you
I will be looking over all the nice builds here. I think you get all of the best, out of guys that share what they do

    Thanks
I believe the gas tanks are exactly the same for both the Crewmax and double cab. Give them a call and tell them I sent you. It is truly the second best mod I have done so far. The ability to go by gas stations instead of stopping at every other one, is awesome. I also get a little better gas mileage than non boosted Tundra's , as long as I keep my foot out of it.

Do you recall what the dealer charged to install the tank? There is a good chance the tank may move to first place. Decisions. I've had an auxiliary or replacement tank in every truck I've owned except for my 09 Tacoma.

You will have to get the list of qualified installers. I had quotes from $500 to $280
I got a little lucky, because I had the tank shipped to the shop that was going to charge me 280. Then I realized that they need to drop the fuel tank, to install the new pump for the blower. I Sent the directions to the tech and asked him if he could just put the tank in when he swaps the pump. He only charged me (1 hour), shop time, to do the swap. He said it was straight forward. The shop was really cool about it and then I decided to buy a prodigy brake controller, just to pass good karma on.

    thank you

I did get the coating . My opinion is that it's worth it, Gives it a little protection and keeps the rust away The stuff is thick and very pliable

It does sound like a great addition, but not sure if I'd have any money left to buy gas after buying that bigger tank... Would be great for road trips or long off road excursions though.

It's now on my list... (Sigh). It would definitely come in handy in July. Was thinking to do a little road/camping journey with my boy, from here up into Colorado. Maybe I'll have a opportunity to meet some of you mountain boys. :)

    Bingo!!!

If you play your cards right, you can save a few bucks. Just think of the expensive areas to buy gas. You can avoid them .
When I go to California, I fill up right before I leave AZ. Then I only buy enough gas to get back to the border of AZ . Then fill up Thats how you can save some bucks

    Yes thats the plan

I will be taking a pretty long trip this summer. Going to Yellowstone, for about 1 week, then off to Ouray Colorado for an FJ Cruiser Event . Too bad my lift won't be ready yet. I will be pulling my 17 ft viking, so the extra gas will keep me from stopping every 200 miles at about 10 mpg

If you saw my first 2 FJ builds , you would see where I started and all the mistakes I made with the first one, then the improvements to the second one( Main thing was planning every thing out so you don't buy stuff more than once ). Some of it does end up morphing, because one idea leads to another , but I still try to research which is the best way to do it. The first question you should ask yourself, when you decide to build is.. How am I going to use this truck?

I must be missing a definition of one of the words what does the term "ur miss" mean? Obvious that its just a typo but I couldn't figure out what to replace it with. Thanks

I love reading and seeing other builds. Lets face it, there are only so many things you can do to a truck Or Should :der:.

    Ditto

Yeah ,,when you start thinking about how you can use it to extend your pleasure. Wait , that doesn't sound right
