Wow. My oil sample made it to Blackstone in 48hrs. That’s borderline unnatural

Me three. I want new lights in my bumper but have no idea what I want. What I have is what came with the Smitty built bumper and my light output compared to pics of everything else that I see seems way less.

@Green Thunder found Schaffer’s at NAPA for 10.28/quart. Do they not have NAPAs in your neck of the woods? Bought all 14 quarts that they had.

In a set of unfortunate circumstances I now have some free time. This isn’t good as my to do list is just getting pushed back and I really want my house back.

But, I’m here for you guys….

I have Napa’s all around me but they were not listed on Schaeffer’s website as a local dealer. Or if they were, it was by special order only. All the shops I called around me only stocked their motorcycle or big rig or racing oil.

I wonder if it’s because I have more agricultural stuff nearby. I also wonder if they would be interested in becoming a distributor and if they could do a trial run of it to see how good it sells. I’m sure your not the only one in your area that would buy it. I did find out that their margin is not great on it either so that may be a factor.

After owning both BD and DD now I can say for certain… our fog pockets are garbage. I’m playing with securing the pocket better right now. The light is tight to the pocket but the pocket is loosey goosey in the bumper.

I used 2 part epoxy to glue the cups to my bumper when I had it apart. That plus replacing the push clip with a bolt and a creatively placed zip tie, have mine solid for once.

I have one zip tie on each in the lower inner corner and it is tight. I’m leaving them like that. I’ll go see how they are looking tonight, then put the covers back in tomorrow.

It doesn’t sell around here for a host of reasons. Most people pay stealership prices for oil changes, so between that and it being an unknown brand it doesn’t stand a chance.

Ok.. for all of us stocking up for maintenance I have some news for you. In case you didn’t know there have been some label changes to the Mobile 0w20 over the last couple years. I don’t know if anyone else has any leftover with the Toyota name on it but you can use these two together.

    91482E0C-8C23-4CB2-B810-2AD81D2B7867.jpg
I decided that since I was organizing my garage shelves I would compare labels. I found their number and gave them a call. Turns out the non Toyota label is just basically a more inclusive label:rofl:. Ok for real though I did call and it is good. That eases my ocd a bit.

If anybody local to PDX needs a Rago Relay holder I have one for you. I bought it when I was planning on doing the DD light bar in my bumper. Then I realized I have no blank switches. So I’ll be going SDHQ SPods when I get there. So you can have my new in package relay holder. I can add a pic if necessary. Bonus…still has the piece of candy they send with it. I think it’s a Dads Root Beer one….so probably won’t last long….we’ll much longer.

I seated mine in a thin bead of painters caulk. I would not recommend you use silicone, it would probably be stronger than the housing if you ever needed to remove it.

I hope I never have to pull them out…unless it’s for a new bumper. But if I do I will remember this. To clarify you put the bead around the bumper, then put the factory housing back in?

Yep. Just a really thin bead. I think I could probably get it loose, if I had to

Now if you didn’t know DD gets some crap on here about vibrating in the housings. I think that might be unfair. They do move a bit I think it’s just more noticeable with their cutoff. So people zip tie them to make them more secure. BD has tried to fix this in their mounting via this bolt and this Rubber pieces on these ears. Both lights are great. I need some pics of my Pro’s at night now though. Here are some of the pics from assembly.

    744E3C73-EB1C-4006-8792-E307F4A81E5B.jpg

Edit: BD has you put this bolt on before you put it back in the bumper. I “Think” on my last Tundra I put the bolt on when the housing was in the bumper. Tightened it up against the housing mount that way.

Yes, I had to zip tie the DDs I got from you, and they are rock solid. Also, my insert does not vibrate… I read somewhere the chrome bumper ends (I have) are better fit than painted ones. No idea if that is really true.

I had them zip tied as well. Probably due to reading about them vibrating in here.

I believe you on the painted ends vs chrome also. My last ones were chrome as well.
I may take mine for a quick trip here in a minute to try and get some pictures out in the country.

Edit: Also glad they are working great for you! I don’t have anything negative to say about them. Just the other lights I plan on running I wouldn’t use from DD. For that reason, I wanted the same color output.
