flat plane 2uz would be cool, but i’d be leery of spinning one fast enough to make it scream right.

I do appreciate the difference, but sometimes my midwestern brain just lumps all you 'coastal elites' into one homogenized group.

    From NC north, all NewEngland.
From SC south, all the South.
    TX is its own country.
CA, OR, and WA are the same [forbidden] state.
Everything from the Front Range to the Mississippi is Kansas.
Everything in the Rockies is CO.
The Southwest doesn't really exist. It's more of an idea than a place.

I can go on, but I reckon you get the idea.

I dunno, I'd argue both of these (and Florida also) are practically their own country. Seriously. Texas, Florida, and California specifically, but I think we can lump CA/OR/WA into one pile neatly enough.

I've not spent a ton of time in FL. The time that I have spent felt like every other poor/coastal/poor coastal community I've ever visited.
I'll grant you that FLORIDAMAN is a whole other thing. But the state never felt remarkably different like CA & TX do.

I used to say I spent "half my life in FL", because I had up to then. At this point, approaching retirement age with so long in GA, it's more like 35-40% of my life in Florida, not limited to one part, I lived all over the state, from Orange Park to Port Richey, from Bithlo to Wildwood, and many places above/below/between.

I moved to Atlanta from there, then married someone who grew up in south FL. Her family had settled into south FL several generations back, way early on. Between her dad and my parents choosing to retire there - at least until my parent's couldn't handle it anymore. All of this lead-up just to say: I've had enough intimate living experience to speak fairly confidently on the subject and still hafta go back to see it several times per year.

You could probably break FL up into three or four of its own unique states at this point. Anything south of Okechobee could probably be one, excluding Naples from that. Everything the I-4 corridor touches could be another (Jax to Tampa). Everything from Homosassa or maybe Wildwood up through Lake City a 3rd. And the panhandle would be a 4th. But regardless how you slice it, the tourism, lack of English as a 1st language in large swaths of it, and the abuncance of trashy, under-educated people make it a real shithole.

The school system doesn't help, and I'm partially a product of it. I was subjected to FL's education system most of my elementary school, then later, a year of middle school, all of high school, and some college in there. For the years I wasn't there, I was in the burbs of DFW and San Diego, in that order. I can tell you, when moving from FL to TX, I was roughly two years behind in my education. Same story moving from TX to CA, two years behind CA standards. So naturally when we moved back to FL, I was in 8th grade, doing what CA considered 4th-5th grade level stuff. I coasted through FL high school on what I learned in CA middle schools and graduated with GPA in the mid-3s without having to study.

It hasn't changed in the decades since I graduated high school, and the only thing saving that place from turning into a 3rd world country is the constant migration of intelligent people from other places, I think?

Anyway, nothing against any of y'all from Florida. If you're offended by this, that's a surefire sign my remarks aren't about you. The folks I'm targeting with these comments would be proud of what I'm saying, not offended.

I had to do a little shorthand to make it work. My bad.

Sunroof issues are the same as the tundra: as long as the drains aren't clogged its good. My sunroof seal isn't even sticking to the window part and it doesn't leak any.

I do. I love that piece of shit. Revving it out to 8k in 3rd is always a blast. I kept an alpha romeo something behind me in the other lane outof the interchange this morning. But it's only fast for a 90s car.

I was just reading about the history of the SHO recently. Sounds like they were fun to drive primarily when they were the manual 7-8k rpm engines rather than the changeover to a v8 automatic made by Ford in the 90s.

Yeah, when they threw the autos behind the v6 in the 2nd gen they fucked up. Then that horrid turd gen(noticing a trend) came out. Ewww. But it does sound good with some pipes. It was a cosworth block with yamaha heads.

The corolla XR-s was another car I had with a screamer and yamaha heads. And an 8200 redline with vvtl-i. Man it ripped. Never shoulda sold it.

Still missing my 04 limited, see a lot of 04 in pristine condition like mine was, here in sw missouri,Drove it up too Cleveland OH right before I traded, didn’t see one 04 tundra. I sure miss that truck, in some ways it was better than my 21 “cup holders “. And everytime I see one go by I think damn that’s a good looking truck.
