    Hi everyone,
I need to do something for step bars but on a budget 3" would be fine but looking at suggestions as what I originally wanted is now out of the budget after having to fix a dent from when I slid jnto one one of my wife's wood horse fence posts and it's a 500.00 deductible.
I don't go offroad just looking for something that makes it easier for the wife and over time my son to get into the truck. It's stock hight and don't plan on lifting as wife and son have a hard enough time getting into the trick.
    Every and all recommendation welcome.
I live.in the salt belts looking at stainless for longevity.

I cam go upto 300 but trying to keep it around 250 if possible

look around for something lightly used, not sure you are going to get anything worth having priced at 250 new. For new, check Amazon, tons of steps there from low to high$.

Used, look at Craigslist, FB, and marketplace here. I see Tundra steps for sale locally almost every time I look at craigslist or FB.

If you get something new that cheap and you live where they salt the roads you might as well re-finish it with Bedliner or rustoleum or something like that before you even install because the coating will probably be the weakest link.

That and seal up any plastic end caps to keep salt from seeping inside. Doesn't hurt to spray some oil or fluid film inside things like this to prevent rusting from inside out.

Thank you everyone for your responses,
I don't go offroad but do live in the Salt belt ugh.
What should I look for and what should I avoid.
I'd rather do it right the first time.
I will have around 700 for running boards, a tonnue cover I already have picked out that's 280.00
Also want to do in channel window vents and my wife misses the under the dash led lights I had in my tacoma.
Trying to be smart and do this much for now.
I have plans to later add a bed mat before August when we go on a week long trip.
Also future plans are steering wheel leather wrap, seat covers and upgrade the horrible stereo.
I also am looking into the rear trd sway bar.
I don't go offroad except dirt roads and future plans include a travel trailer.
I also down the road plan to tint the windows and along the top of the windshield to avoid extra glare especially when the sun is right in my eyes all the time and my soon to be 1 year old hates the sun in his eyes. Also waiting till its off lease and we buy it by the end if next month. Not doing anything to it till it's off lease.

    Check these out on Amazon...
    https://www.amazon.com/APS-Aluminum...nch+aluminum+tundra+double+cab,aps,122&sr=8-1

I've been running them for about 1.5 years with no issues. They are sturdy and inexpensive and aluminum, so no rust. You may want to swap out the hardware for stainless for maximum corrosion resistance, but otherwise they seem perfect for your needs.

I lived in the PNW when I got these and never had an issue with them being slippery. Not a lot of ice, but we definitely had snow and lots of rain. I live in SoCal now, so no longer have that issue. They have a texture to them so they aren't slippery when wet, but I suppose if you have lots of ice where you live you could put some grip tape strips on them for more grip.

This what they look like in real life...

Craigslist or FB Marketplace. May take a while, but I have found good deal on both.
