So, why would my 2008 Tundra SR5 Crewmax 5.7L have this on the sticker? I was assuming the truck would be rated for 10k but shows 7200 GVWR? Confusing...

I think the best way to know for sure is to go to Toyota owners site and put your VIN in and see what that says in the vehicle specs.

That being said, If it's a 5.7l it's very likely 10k lbs towing.

Btw to the OP considering that I just bought a 2007 crewmax 5.7l @275k miles. Knowing I'm get another 150k miles out of these truck, these trucks have a lot to give. However mine is decent southern example with almost no rust.

I have a '97 T100 that has close to 396k miles on it.

GVWR isn’t your tow rating. That’s the maximum (gross) weight of the truck and everything in your truck as well as the tongue weight of the trailer.

Ok thanks. I haven’t towed with my truck yet so will need to figure all that out.

Update.. found a 2019 Limited with 108K miles last October! Towed for the first time today! I have noticed a intermittent vibration i can feel lightly in the wheel. buzz... buzz... buzz and seems to go a way. And some times after a stop the wheel can actually shake side to side and goes away about 5 min later after driving at a sustained speed. Then can re-appear what seems to be randomly later in the drive. Doesn't happen every day though. Super happy with the truck though! Pulled the Airstream really well 3250-is unloaded. Anderson WD Hitch. Was getting an intermittent "trailer disconnected" dash message. Read else where here that it could be a short in the trailer brake wiring! Need to investigate that ASAP.

186k is nothing. Several have hit 1,000,000.

This is a late response, but look in the owner manual on page 588. Your model code shown on your data plate is USK56L-PSTSKA. The manual shows your towing capacity to be 10,100#.

My 09 had 110K when I got rid of it a few months ago. 3-4 Tranny drain and fills and a couple fluid swaps on both diffs and trans case through the 13 years I had it. Otherwise just oil changes. Still shifted like new. It was due plugs, brakes and tires by the end of this year. The only non-wear and tear item it really needed at this point was a water pump. But since it remained a slow weep I had kind of been turning a blind eye to it and topping off once a month for a couple years.

Had it been a vehicle I was willing to hold for awhile I'm sure I could have spent 2-3 grand for all that and not had too many problems with it for another 100 or 200K miles. The only thing that ever made me nervous was the AIP fault and had I decided to keep it for another several years I would have to have needed the bypass. I felt like I was pushing my luck not having gotten it in those 13 years.

I wonder why there is a discrepancy between the sticker and the manual? I've always been told to follow what the GVWR says on the sticker...

Interesting, what is the fluid change interval recommendations? With only 110k miles I wouldn't expect it would be needed. I just bought my Tundra about 6 months ago or so and it had about 130k when I bought it. Of course, dealer didn't have or would share any maintenance info so no idea what has been done or is needed on it. It occasionally shifts a bit rough, mostly when slowing down to an almost stop and then accelerating.

I had the AIP fault recently and had the valve(s) replaced, plus they recommended replacing the knock sensors since they were in there. About $1200 for all that.
