So usually any component or seal change requires the refrigerant to be removed or released, the entire cooling “loop” would then be exposed to atmospheric pressure and gas…..
Refrigeration systems only like the refrigeration that they were designed for. Air and “non condensables” don’t react the same way the refrigerant does and usually contains moisture which will be caught at the filter drier to help preserve other components in the system. But when it gets caught at the drier, it usually gets caught as a frozen state(water vapor) so sooner or later it will clog that component. Also air and water are terrible for the oil used in systems. I don’t think these systems use the same oil as 404a, but the oil used with that is actually made to absorb oil that is left over in the system.
Lastly, if you have moisture in a system, pulling a vacuum actually freezes the moisture trapped in the system………. How do you remove it then? That’s why you then pressurize with a dry inert gas like nitrogen, brings it back above freeze point, and then you pull another vacuum, then pressurize with nitrogen all over again. This eliminates MOST issues with moisture(actually water in a line, your fucked, go home)
    Hopefully that further confused you…….

Im not very knowledgeable but did change out the entire steering column and seal recently. In case you’re still working on it… I believe part 1 can have some play and where part 2 meets part 3. Not sure why you had to remove part 4?

Maybe install part 4 and play around with 1-3

Yeah, they are EGR moldings for a sierra crew cab. I had to cut and rework them for the rear doors.

Well got most of the paint off, should be able to get the last bit stripped down tomorrow. I had to reschedule my buddies and the paint booth for next weekend as this took way longer than expected. Everything should line up for Friday after work and that’ll leave the rest of the weekend in case drying takes longer than expected.

Stretched her legs for first time on the highway since DD Injectors and all. Gotta say....that 0-60 sure did improve drastically and boy is everything shifting smoother.

Oh and that new starter? Man i didnt even realize how bad the old one sounded until now that ive got a fresh one.

Did a little offroading today to test the axles and such. All seems good.
    20220326_185839.jpg

Did the tiresome job of loading all these up from some family members for the upcoming free tire disposal day.
You'll never put those tires back on just get rid of them.
    20220326_203434.jpg

Did what was suggested by @shifty` and @MrDirtjumper and wrapped a strap around the whole shell while leaving it on the truck and pulled it together to get it to lock properly. Got it where I wanted it and double clamped it down on both sides. We'll see if it lasts.
    20220326_211810.jpg

Now I gotta get the bed cleaned out.

That's actually what I got done today. Got pulled off my wiring shenanigans investigation to work on more problems in the house, didn't have enough time on the back end of that, so I re-organized and lugged my three boxes of carpet tiles out and into the shop/man cave, swept out the liner, and lifted it up to check for rub-in and misc garbage. Pretty damn clean under there, I'm happy.

    This kinda seems like a stupid question but I’ve gotta ask;
2wd with a front wheel off the ground, how much resistance is normal when spinning the wheel? I know there will be minimal drag from the disc brakes, but I would expect to get a few rotations from a good heavy push, no?

Dirt Deeds injectors, Addco rear sway, AEM dry flow air filter, last ever set of Stan's Try-Y headers, Borla full custom exhaust, front level, wheel spacers, and lots of electronics.
Got a lot accomplished today. Fluid check and top off. Rebuilt drive shaft with Spicer u-joints and SKF carrier bearing. Adjusted the rear sway as it had too much pre-load on passenger side. Adjusted the slight steering wheel misalignment. Lastly, wrapped my headers with 1/2" high temp insulating mat. Trying to cut down on the valve tick.

The CVs are still rotating with the wheel, so you're spinning that mass too. But you should be able to rotate it freely. I'll tighten my lugs when putting a wheel back on by spinning the wheel instead of the wrench.

Just curious more than anything, what method did you use to achieve this?

So far I haven't had to have my truck aligned. As far as I can tell, nobody had the collapsible shaft loose before. But my steering is ever-so-slightly off, like, by 1 minute past noon at most. A stranger driving the truck wouldn't even notice, but I'm OCD on some stuff. Trying to hold out on an alignment until I decide on suspension and tires.

Id expect at least most of a rotation. But heavy push is subjective. My titan will spin a few rotations. But the rear wheel on a fwd car with drums will spin more.

The weight of the 35’s should help keep it goin too. I took the wheel off and turned the hub by hand and it’s definitely not spinning free. Tomorrow I’ll probably pull the wheel, and the brake just to be sure, and then if it’s still sluggish, I guess I’ll order bearings.

Yes, he only said "2wd" not "2wd truck" and his profile doesn't clarify. I read his message as having a 4x4 in 2WD with a wheel off the ground.

When the wheel is on and truck in the air, does the wheel have any play in it if you push against the sidewall at 12 and 6 o'clock?
