Is the color of your truck Blueprint or Midnight Black? Very nice!

No idea. I have no inside information or any affiliation to Toyota. My guess would be it takes longer to transport them to Canada. From what I understand being where I’m located in southwestern MO, it takes approximately 4 weeks to ship the truck to the local port and from there to the dealership.

Blueprint looks black when it gets dark outside.

I know new car sales and production are generally down +\- 10 % due to supply chain issues. However, any cause for concern looking at first 4 months post debut sales of 2nd gen vs 3rd gen?

I know Toyota plowed hundreds of millions into the San Antonio plant and even relocated Tacoma production to Mexico in 2021 getting ready for this launch. In 2020 before the big changes they put out over 170k vehicles from the San Antonio plant.

I know they’ve talked about cutting Tundra a few times over the years. This just seems to be a potential disappointment in terms of initial numbers. Any reason to be worried?

No, this is not a case of lack of demand, but supply issues. People are waiting 4+ months to get their truck. People want them and if Toyota could build them, they would sell them all. Why would they drop something that they just invested all this money into developing when there's this much demand for them?

demand would be even higher if it weren't for the all the QC issues as well

I'd agree if you were just looking at previous Tundra owners. But you're not the only buyers. My decision came after driving almost every truck I could. Didn't get a chance to drive a tundra and was leaning towards a Denali (that 6.2 is glorious if it works). When I finally drove a base SR5 Tundra I thought it was in an interesting position. Ride slotted between the Ram and Denali. Those 3 were way above every other truck for me. Performance was right after the Denali 6.2 and comparable to the Ford but felt more usable than the rest I'd driven. I've had Fords in the past and don't have the heart to go through that shit again.

Add to that I'd be paying the same amount for a new Tundra as a used Denali and the choice easy. I know 3 other people who ordered 22's and none had heard of the QC issues and most of them related the problems with every truck brand. Even with these problems reliability is a wash with everyone else. But the ratio of ride, performance and price do put this truck in a unique spot in the new car market.

I had this happen once a while back. I tried manually activating them after I saw the message and it was fine. Since then, I’ve come to the conclusion that if I turn the truck off and open my door too quickly it can sometimes get confused with the park brake. Meaning it’s a timing thing not a failure of the system in my case.

I think people understand there will be issues with first model year rollouts and that Toyota will make it right if problems do arise, though. The long term turbo reliability may be more of a deterrent but ultimately the shortages are supply chain related

I get first model year quirks but the amount of CEL far surpasses anything I've seen on any other truck groups, except maybe GM.

What ? It is not an issue of being a Dbag, a modern warrior, a garage junkie, or a wrench wrecker… THIS GUY BOUGHT A $60,000 truck from Toyota and they are telling him 6 WEEKS TO REPAIR ? You say maybe the guy sabotaged his own truck ???? bs

You have to understand. On this forum some people think Toyota can do no wrong. It’s never their fault. Everyone having problems with their new trucks are all liars.

Production for the month of April will be down because of supply issues, not demand.

Saw this brand new limited today. Looks so much better blacked out. I assumed all the chrome is wrapped?

Looks like one of my neighbours has a 22. I couldn't figure out what colour it is. It has a bit of green or blue or something in it but it's obviously not Army Green or Blueprint. I guess that would be Lunar Rock?

Lunar rock looks more like gray putty to me, not anywhere close to Blueprint or Army green.

So I turned down the opportunity to buy a '22 yesterday that someone backed out on. Wrong color, wrong trim. *sigh*

If it was the wrong color and trim it doesn’t sound like it was ever an opportunity to begin with .

Has anyone confirmed if the standard white Tundras have clear coat on them? I know Windchill pearl does. Historically I don't think standard white has gotten clear coat but maybe things changed for 2022?

I might go so far as to say every vehicle has clearcoat since diaper days for most of us (wait ... diaper days come back around so never mind. Don't post this).

Up util 2020 (not sure about 2021 + but doubt it)Super white did not have a traditional clear top coat. Single stage paint. Google "does Toyota Super White paint have a clear coat?"
