Crewmax Rear Seat Protector

Does anyone have a recommendation for a rear seat protector for pets? Has a product worked for you? Does one that fits well exist?

I've used a 4Knines seat cover for about 3 years and it's worked great. Fits perfectly, it's durable, and it's machine washable. They actually honor their warranty too.

I just fold my seats up. I thought something to protect the doors might be more appropriate, but he is the perfect height for looking out the window when standing.

 

Luckymann Club Tundra seat covers. Come in many different styles. I have a Platinum and these matched the seat pretty nice.

Love what I have in mine. The XL fits like a glove. Cant beat the price and the material is awesome.

I've had this one just over a year with a dog riding daily. The sides can be strapped to the grab handles and it protects the door panels from scratches.

Went to Wally World & bought a cheap color-matching blanket. Works great. Can be washed or tossed. I hold it in place with some bungee cords. I figure what ever went over the seats would look like an add- on anyway & the dog can’t read sales receipts so she does not care what she lays on. AND now I have a couple more dollars for the gas tank.

 

Identical to mine, just mine was $125 less.

 

Been using my 4Knines since 2015.
It actually stays in the truck since the pup is the only one that rides back there.
I like that the seat belt buckles are still accessible.

Sorry, I never understood this guys.

Why does anyone put animals like dogs in their vehicles loose running around?

Their claws tear up everything, the seats, the door panels, the center console, back of the front seats, they drool on stuff, smear windows etc.

Just no.
Hell NO.

Vehicles cost WAY to much to be letting my animal tear it up, covers or not, and you can't really cover everything.
Also, in an accident your beloved pet is toast if they are not crated.

Crate that dog or leave it at home where it belongs.

I am an animal lover and grew up with dogs.
I know we all love them, but I also love my vehicles and they are WAY harder to replace then a pet.

There are alternatives to crating. You can safely transport a dog in a back seat provided they're harnessed and restrained to the seat belt. There are several companies that offer solutions, some of which are crash tested. Sleepypod provides a good product line that I use that properly restrains my dog and keeps him as safe as any human in case of a crash

So they keep the dog restrained and don't let me them move around at all, and keeps them safe in a crash?

Well, it of course depends how well behaved your dog is

I always cringe when I see dogs sticking their heads out of car windows or sitting in their owners laps in the front seat.

I did some quick searching of this topic.

Does yours keep the dog pinned down to the seat or can he move around?
Can he touch the door panels which will scratch if he even breaths on them lol?

A human or baby seat is somewhat pinned down to the seat and can not move around much if at all, and not at all when the seat belt locks in a collision.
That's why they are safe.

I see many of these "harnesses" have leashes connected to seatbelts or even to ohshit handles, and headrest mounting bars.
The dog may not fly out of the car with those, but he can certainly be tossed around the backseat area in a bad crash.
Very easy to brake bones in that situation.
Most of what I see will only stop ejection from the vehicle, but will likely induce internal injury or broken bones tossing them around the length of the free movement of the leash.

Not currently a dog owner, but only because I won't make a dog miserable living in my tiny townhouse.
I have a strict "no yard, no space, no dog" policy.
We have had cats for awhile now but are currently taking a break from litterboxes and cats atm.

 

All good questions. I would recommend researching the specific products you're interested in and checking to see how they work and if they're crash tested. Some products look good but aren't actually safe as you pointed out. The one I use does restrain my dog. He's good in the truck and just goes to sleep after he's buckled in.

 

Yea I was thinking if the dog is on any kind of leash, most of these devices and covers are only partially effective.
Especially if it is not a calm well trained dog.

Yea it's only the dogs that are loose hanging out windows we notice, if they are properly restrained we likely won't notice them lol.

This reminds me of some crazy dumb shit I saw lastnight picking up dinner for the wife and I.

As I was getting into my truck parked alone out in the open I notice this black electric scooter come whizzing past me.
Not the motorcycle type, the L shaped 1 foot on and push with your other foot kids kind, but electric and decent sized for a teen.

This skinny, hooded, male person, with a godam front baby body carrier WITH a child in it facing forward
Whizzes past my truck in the 60% empty parking lot, with a 30% downgrade going well over 20mph

Wonder how that is legal.....
