Thank you @Sunnier He may be a genuine guy, but it doesn't seem that way. Posts or history on him are not great. I would rather be wrong, as opposed to watching some new owners get fired up on a deal for stuff that will disappoint. Or at least may have the issues you mentioned that they would otherwise be unaware of. I see some alerts - I guess someone is responding over there. I'll try to be good.

I don’t really get buying a tent for a Tundra bed. Or really just about any truck bed. Why not just buy a regular tent? Scared of bugs?

 

I could make a killer tent that uses my Tonneau as a roof. (I can sew). But, I'm going to change that lid, and when I told my wife I needed something smaller than what we have for a run with @des2mtn, she said, go to REI. Enter @Sunnier with this gem.

 

Everytime I look at it. I just giggle smore. I disagree on young. I feel like the man is simply pent up/frustrated else where in his life. This was simply the spark he needed to "vent" or take it out on some one else. Just how I take it based on readings.

Playing around in the truck bed had me realize how much I hate my ratchet strap storage.
So I’m thinking about ordering one of those tie away boxes. It’ll cover my smaller straps. The larger ones I plan on keeping in the car trailer when I get one. I’ll just need to find a fairly small box to go on the other side to hold the choker straps and 2 moving blankets I keep in the truck.

Still want to get my hands on taco storage boxes to see if they can be made to fit the tundra. I love those side pockets and trucks should come with them more often

also really need to find a bed mat.

 

Here's a picture of those tents set up and a size comparison to our trucks. The only type of bed tent I like is the one that works with my camper shell, because I don't have to unload the truck at all to put it on.

 

I'm lost. Those tents are the ground tents or bed tents? And how do you not unload your bed and it works with your shell?

 

@empty_lord I was contemplating a swingcase for tie downs but losing some of my precious 4’ wide bed space made me sad. That and no model specifically for FGT so likely have to mod as well as drill. A leaner version might be cool. For the time being I have a nice Roam case and a black plastic w yellow top cheapo from Home Depot.

On the mat situation I was thinking of sourcing something from a trailer supply store and using my mat as a template. I tried hitting up that one vendor who makes for the 6’ bed (from this thread) but they told me to F off with my 8’ POS RC maybe you can sweet talk them?

Yes, the green ones on the left are the Gazelles. One of our 2.5 gens friends pictured also has them. I was impressed at them and they've been on my short list for if I ever move to a ground tent.

Here's my tent thingy. The type of tent our buddy Napier is plugging requires you to have an empty truck bed for a tent floor, so everything's gotta come out. This just wraps around the opening created by an open tail gate and camper shell glass. Mine has held up in wind, rain and hail without letting water in. I really like this because the tailgate space is handy to put your shoes in while you're sleeping. It's roomy and private to change back there with it on.

I was also thinking some sort of molle or angle brackets inside the shell above the windoors for strap storage might truly be ideal. Up and out of the way yet easily accessible. Maybe mounted to the window frames somehow. If I had metal skillz I’d be doing that already. At least one dude in these forums selling raw molle. I wouldn’t want it directly overhead along the midline but out on the edges where the shell roof curves to the side windows seems like a great spot for gear storage.

Dude. I'm glad you can relate. My entire life I've had to spell my name for people. I get called Eric, Erich, Erick, and even Erika. What's worse is that they do it in email right after having to punch in my email address. Yesterday I had someone address me as Rik.

When PHM/Heather/Fred was pissed at me he wrote "Erelick My Balls" or something similar. Which was actually so childish that I enjoyed it.
