I just replaced the burned out lights behind the control with LEDs.

However, my climate control knobs do not let any light through - the pointer where you expect to see light come through is just painted with white paint. I wanted to replace them with these: https://www.amazon.com/Climate-Control-Knob-55905-0C010-Conditioner/dp/B07D1BFKQF

But before I do, does anyone know if someone makes any with a more style, like with a translucent ring for a 2006 Tundra?

I picked these up but only to replace the old ones that fell apart. Can't say it's more translucent to be honest, looks the same as my old ones but they do light up at the spot that was painted.

I broke down and bought OEM replacements recently, my p/n was 55905-0C010. You never know what you'll get w/aftermarket, and as we've seen from some members around here, the non-OEM 3pks sold on Amazonian and fLeabay have a host of flaws, including opaque knobs and knobs which let light escape from around the edges. Someone posted photos of their aftermarket knobs recently, but I can't remember who it was. Lots of bleed.

Oh really? That's some good info @Shifty, thank you.

I do have a set of the aftermarket nobs from Amazon and thus far no issues or bleed, but makes sense. Likely your mileage may vary but OEM is still the best.

Thanks ya’ll I’ll go with a version of these, since it’s looking like no one made other versions of them with rings. For kicks I may spray blue paint my in the back and maybe get some blue in the translucent marker. I’ve never seen knobs like the ones my truck came with - with just paint in the marker - not sure if they are factory or if a previous owner put them in.

I had light bleeding around the edges, but you could only see it if you looked at it directly.

As if you were looking from the middle rear seat.

    It doesn't bug me.

    Edit: found the specific post.

Yeah. Those Bigg Gurrlss knobs are a great value. Think I paid $13 dollas for shree knobs. Well made and light shines thru the little slot. Some bleeds around the dial, too.

I busted the knobs on mine when I was trying to get them off to install a new head unit. The previous owner told me, "I got tired of them wiggling off when I was off-roading so I put a little dot of Krazy glue on them."

I bought these exact knobs and I was not disappointed with them. I looked for something sexy like the aftermarket knobs that were on my Tacoma but this was all I could find. For the price, I think they are a good value. YMMV.

I lost a couple of the small little black clips that keep tension on the knobs when I changed out my headunit also. Could not find them anywhere. Ordered replacements from Amazon, they didnt fit as good and looked cheaply made and while cleaning out the center storage tray, found the missing clips so I popped the OEM knobs back on.

The metal tensioner usually only slides out if the plastic square housing where they live is cracked. This is why I had to replace my knobs, one of them was cracked all the way up the square plastic shaft, so when I changed blend modes, the crack would flex, release tension, knob would wiggle, and require extra force causing it to crack more.

I have a spare OEM tensioner though, if anyone needs it.

I know this is an old thread, but is there a trick to installing the new ones? I've pushed until I'm afraid it's going to break something.

Did you go OEM or aftermarket? If OEM, as long as they're lined up correctly, you should be good to push on. There's only 4 ways they can line up.

Any time I pop my knobs off, I always rotate to as far-left as they can go, that way I always know which way to reinstall later.

The plastic pushpin inside (shown above) should be the "give" point that will push out of the way to let the knob slide on.

Aftermarket, which might be the issue. It wants to stay stuck out about 1/16"/.

Can't speak to aftermarket. Heard to many complaints about light bleed from the edges of things so I paid the extra for OEM.

Scroll up to reply # 16 and make sure your aftermarkets have that little metal spring-loaded clip. Make sure it's giving way when pressed on. If not, it's a good thing you didn't press too hard, you DO NOT want to snap off the control post, it's living hell to replace.

It's entirely possible you were sent the wrong knobs, too. Just a thought. Again, maybe another reason to go OEM on this one.

So, I found a solution if anyone else has this issue. These are aftermarket ones from Amazon and they wouldn't fit all the way in (first photo). Well, one would but not the other two. So I was going to send them back today but got to looking at them and saw this small piece of plastic inside the knob (second photo). I took a small drill bit and wobbled it off (third photo, also has the plastic piece that came out) and now they work.

Can't speak to the light bleed yet as it's day right now.

I just found a screw I've been missing for a year that goes behind the center knob. When I put it back I farmed my knob, broke the retainer plastic spring. But I will let it flop forever before I buy those things. Just my choice and no reflection on anyone else's choice.

I like the idea of them, but still some finish work needs to happen before I believe those are worth 55 doll hairs. You can still see the lines from the 3d print instead of the nice, schmoov finish to match the bezel behind it. If they were smooth the Feng shui might still be able to flo

There is no way to get rid of 3D print lines that makes 3D affordable for this kind of thing. I saw that like you did, hard pass. And, they kinda look Transformers. Not really Gen 1 styling.

Oh, as someone with no experience 3D printing I didn't know that. Guess the best course if you wanted schmoov would be to sand and paint yourself after purchase? Stick a fork in that idea.

Guess them little lines wouldn't bother somebody else? I just can't imagine looking around like "smooth smooth smooth smooth smooth... hard lines..."

    Breaks up the flow IMO.
