What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Took mine for a spin today. It's been sitting at home lately. I noticed the bump thump after I come to stop again. Guess I'll have to take apart my slip yoke and grease the crap out of it. The last time I did anything to it was when I replaced all the joints in the driveshaft when changing out the carrier bearing. Is there anything else in the ass end that could be causing that thump after you've come to a stop? Shocks perhaps?

2 weekends ago and replaced the Moog lower ball joints with OEM Toyota joints. Due to the recall on the moogs. I then noticed my upper in the passenger side has a torn boot so that will need to be addressed soon as well.

Sigh. The fun continues.

I’ll have to look into that. It’s maybe 1 out of 10 stops. I remember a ABS thing mentioned at one time. Not sure if that was first Gen. But this doesn’t seem to be something I remember from when it was newer.

The inch worm incheth... Trying to find the pass side rear cab corner... May have to let the bod shop fab up something. Like I told them, I'm not after perfect, but I'm trying to save them as many hours of labor as possible which means money saved for me...

Changed out the lugs I had for extended lugs. Ran no-extended lugs for 14k miles. The set I order was short 1 lug, and it came with 1 none extended 7/16 lug. I also went ahead and rotated my tires

 

Just went out and checked my trans mount bolts. All nice and tight. Guess it will be the slip yoke.

 

Gaslighting and fake news are very effective. Do it.

 

Now I want to pull one and look at mine. But 5 threads is safe and I probably get 10. I'll be looking next time a wheel comes of which is often.

 

I was able to get rid of my by just some grease through the zerk....didn't need to disassemble.

 

I was wondering about zerks. I don't think I have one. But something else to look at.

 

Yeah, I had no clue I was running the wrong ones till Someone posted about them. I’m sure there is no issue with no extended. I def feel safer now. I will recheck the torque in a couple days.

 

should be on the yoke. I had to pump quite a bit and then jump on the bumper to get it moving through it, then pump some more. Never had a problem since.

Sorry. I was gonna say there is no way they would take away the zerk on the 2WD model if it had the yoke. guess it’s not that so maybe it’s shocks? They old?
Or tranny mount?

 

Of course. Look into what Andrew said about the Trans mount bolts for sure though.

I should grease mine this weekend.

 

I'll look at tranny. I'm suspecting what I feel is normal ABS or tranny mounts or nothing. All of my shocks and suspension are new and good, very good. I'm hyper sensitive to everything these days. A truck hypochondriac.

I'll try that. Only feel it from a stop though. Stopped, release brake to go. And only some times.

 

If you have no VSC, you shouldn't feel your ABS unless it's making that "errrr" sound under hard or slippery braking.

 

I only feel that when I jam the brakes and ABS does its thing. This is just a "time to go from a stop now" and it's infrequent. Feels like play catches up in the driveline if everything doesn't have pressure on it. It is a random drive thud only at start, or even at stopped at a light, like the tranny said push now. If I hot rod, no way I notice it if its even there.
