I got my pioneer 8600 nex from crutchfield with a wire kit that has no place for the parking brake wire. It is a long green wire coming off the pioneer head unit the directions say.

Used to detect the ON/OFF status of the parking brake. This lead must be connected to the power supply side of the parking brake switch. If this connection is made incorrectly or omitted, certain functions of this product will be unusable

Any advice or way to just avoid it?

I have a BOSS HU in my Camry and going from memory here.... I just grounded the lead to the frame to simulate the parking brake being on.

I think it will work with any 12 volt source. A buddy has his on a switch to simulate the parking brake
