Probably a stupid question, but I am getting some Fuel rims later next week and I was originally thinking of keeping the stock tires on the new rims (just want the "black out effect")....but now I am thinking why not just replace the tires at the same time. I will be picking up a non-TRD, SR5 4x4, stock tire is 265/70/R18.

So, question is: Can I run a 295/70/R18 tire on the stock suspension system of the truck and not have any rubbing issues?

I recall several videos that showed you can run that tall of a tire on the truck in stock form...reminder I do not have the TRD package.

Check out the wheels & tires thread.. alot of good info that will answer your question. Or seach your tire size in this forum and you'll get plenty of help.

However, since I'm here, To answer your question most likely yes, but it totally depend on other factors such as your wheel offset, tire brand etc. If you're running 0 offset or positive offset and up, you'll probably be good with minimal work to make them fit. May need to remove the front mud flaps and maybe pin your carpet liner back for full clearance. Anything like a -18 offset you'll probably run into issues with that much wheel poke. Some tire brands run smaller/larger. For example Nittos generally run big.

    Good luck!

Thanks for the insight, the offset on the new rims is 0. I will double check the thread you referenced....

0 offset will work but may be too much poke. Here's my Fuel Ammo 18x9 w/ +20 offset on Falken Wildpeak 295/70/18. No lift. I had to remove the front mud guard to get rid of the slight rubbing. The front liner needs to be pushed in more to get rid of the very slight rub also.

I am guessing the answer is “No” or “It depends” to this question but I will ask anyway.

    - Is there the possibility of trimming the mudflaps to alleviate the rubbing but keep them on the truck?

I like my mudflaps….and getting new wheels soon so want to try that route first before taking them completely off…

I’m sure someone tried that approach on the 22…just can’t remember seeing a post of it so I’m inquiring.

Not a spanking new gadget Tundie, but my non hi speed, low drag 08 does sport 295/70/18s Falkens WP on Visions 18x9, +25 offset.. Oh, Toytec Coilovers complete lift, like the cool kids have. No rubbing issues at all..Good luck.20220318_115026.jpg
