Noticed a little oil on the ground and traces it back to this. Rear passenger side.

Going to take it to the dealer under warranty, but posting up bc I have a 2” spacer on there, and wondering if the dealer is likely to give me grief over voided warranty. Any experience with such?

doesn’t seem to me the lift would cause such a leak …?

The lift could cause the leak because the shock is designed to work at a certain working height. I would guess the dealer would say you overextended and caused the damage. 2 inches is alot, even bilstein 5160 are only rated at 1.5" of lift.

They are gonna deny it. You probably over extended the shock and broke something inside. Yes the spacer block will do that

The shocks are likely over extended. I have a 1 inch lift in the rear and got bilstein 5100's rated for 0-"1". the rear shocks are extremely easy to replace.

I dont have exp with skyjacker for anything other than an old CJ I had a long time ago but it is a cheap option:
    https://www.extremeterrain.com/skyj...r-shock-absorber-for-0-2-inch-lift-b8562.html

OME would be a better brand:
    https://www.bilsteinlifts.com/shop/...me-rear-sport-shocks-2007-2014-toyota-tundra/

if you want to go to a reservoir shock the bilstein 5160's would be good or fox or king both make options. some of which can be hard to find right now.

did you do a carrier bearing spacer for the 2 inch lift in the back? Curious if you have vibration going away from a stop under moderate acceleration.

This is a fantastic question. The front a arms are pretty steep too. Something to keep an eye on

    You just wait
I ran those skyjackers on my Tundra and they were a cheap and definite upgrade from the stock black shocks.

No the dealer didn’t do the install

    it’s a readylift 3/2.

the spacer can be seen in the photo in the OP.

Sounds like I need to replace those rears, which shouldn’t be too bad. I’ll have a look and see what will work for me.

toytecs rear shocks are good up to 3" I think. you might be able to get away with 5160s.

I see the two inch block in the rear. I have the 1 inch block. Did the kit come with a carrier bearing drop spacer? I know some people do and some people do not get the vibrations after lifting the back from the driveshaft angles being off.

Haven’t had any vibration or driving issues thus far.

I did 2” back to leave a little rake for towing. Perhaps I shoulda stuck with 1”?

i only ask because if i turn off ALL the nannies and stomp on it from a stop i can feel a VERY slight vibration. Although, I may be hyper aware of it after messing with it for so long on the lift I had on my tacoma.

Yes, 1 inch you should’ve been ok. Count your lucky stars you got no vibs. Vibrations after lifting are annoying AF

    Nah. No heavy off-roading.

Occasional dirt road/trail just to get somewhere to camp etc

If your taking bumps/dips easy I wouldn’t worry to much. How does your alignment look? That’s what I’d me most concerned about. Tires are expensive

I had it aligned right after the lift, if that’s what ur asking. I keep an eye on the tread and don’t see any odd wear as of yet.

Side note - any idea offhand what the torque specs are for the shocks, and the lug nuts?

They might "goodwill", but expect to buy out of pocket. They have zero reason to warranty that.

I believe the TSS wheels are 98ft lbs. That's what I set mine to 6k miles ago and they haven't fallen off yet.

Install lower Shock bolts @64 ft lb.
Install nut on top of shock at @15 ft lb.

You don't want the shocks replaced with more incorrect for application shocks. 2” of lift requires a new, and different shock than what’s on there. Easily solved. Buy appropriate shocks to replace. This thread is missing one thing. Pics of the truck!

So I got the SkySlicer 5000 shocks installed no prob. They didn’t come with any kind of instructions or stacking diagramme, so I’ve had a little trouble keeping the dust boots up. Any clue how they are supposed to attach? See photo.
Related note - is there a way to remove and transfer the stock dust covers from the original shocks? On mine they seemed fairly well attached.

Top of the boot there is a groove, that groove goes around the "washer" welded base of the shock stem.

    Different shock, same idea.
