Recommendations for new Tundra Owner

Hello all!

It's nice to meet you all! First time poster here. I am moving from a '21 F-150 to a '22 Tundra Platinum within the next few weeks. It was built a few days ago and I'm ready to put some things in motion to be prepared when it arrives.

1. I would like to at least level it. But here's my problem: the model I have has the AVS system on it. Rough country's site says the front lift isn't supported because of the AVS. I've also seen where an adjustment could be made on the rear to have it default to a higher height than factory. I have read conflicting things on this forum so I thought it might be prudent to just ask the question out loud: If I wanted to level this truck, what would you guys recommend?

2. I would like to go to a little bit larger tire (no larger than a 35). Tire place I normally trust says they cant do the level kit because it will mess the compressor up on the air suspension, so that's got me freaked out a little bit. He said I should be able to go 33 with no mods.

On my F-150 I currently have, I did 33's and the level kit and I'm good with the look. But dang this is the truck I've been waiting for for years. I want to do it right.

Full disclosure- I MIGHT get it off road some, but honestly figuring on my schedule the next few years (more little league and ballet these days than camping and off-roading), I could probably get by without a 10-ply tire. Haven't decided yet. I have Falken AT3/W's on my F-150 and really like the ride on that tire. So any recommendations/options/experience you could lend that would help me, I'd very greatly appreciate it!

Most of the AVS level kits seem to still be in development (Rough Country, Westcott Designs, etc)…so you can probably just wait on those as your cheaper options but more expensive/higher quality ones (not just spacers and pre-load collars) will be out soon enough.

Any of the above will take you mild-off-roading as you described.

This truck handles 34’s easily with no mods on stock tires and suspension. A true 35 may require at least that level you are talking about and mudflaps removed at least. Then you can also decide whether you want aftermarket wheels or otherwise.

Lots of info in the tire/wheels thread above on lightweight 34’ (Nitto Terra Grappler G2’s for instance) that’s none E rates/non 10ply….but the Falkens are a great choice and many run them around here.

I have a 4x4 platinum and I put 295/65/20 tires on stock rims, no lift or leveling kit.

 

westcott designs makes a leveling kit for AVS. 3” in the front 1”in the rear. Check their Instagram and YouTube page out. They’re legit. I did mine, none AVS.

 

any rubbing at all?

nope I’ve put 5k miles on them.

 

If all you want is level - with AVS it will be level when you get it.
Stock stance with AVS has rear lower than same truck without AVS.
