dumb question...but is that the OEM dipstick FOR SURE.!!?

Maybe that's why it isn't fitting. (*now why on earth on a newish 2021 that would be the case, I have no idea - but worth it asking - no???*)

going to see if I can get in to Toyota one day next week and see what they have to say about it. Worst case I'll replace the tube and dipstick. I don't see any other signs of anything like that, rest of the engine compartment looks good, had a "minor front end" listed on carfax but not much to see, bolts for front bumper haven't been off, so it appears wasn't much of a hit

And it was sold at the sister dealer, a Toyota dealer, of the Chevy dealer where I bought it in Paoli, PA.

Just to wrap this up. Took it to Toyota this morning, they cleaned up the tube and the dipstick, put a little oil on the dipstick o-ring and it's just fine? Not sure what that was but tech cleaned it right up. I am a little worried though as he says I may have to replace my valve springs when I get to 300,000 miles and probably a good idea to replace the water pump at 90,000. Gotta' love that for a "what to watch out for" list. Wish some earlier vehicles I'd owned were as trouble free as I expect this one to be.
Thanks to all for input on "the great dipstick dilemma of 2022" as this will come to be known in the annals of tundras.com lore...

Nice job figuring out the problem but long time from current 26K miles to 300K miles. a lot more can happen between now and then ...
    Don't worry too much!

I thought he was joking at first. That's awesome. I can't name another vehicle I've owned that would have a prayer of getting to 300K miles.

I would change the oil. I/you don't know what might have fell into the oil, but that's just me.

Same. I’d get a new tube and swap it out, change the oil, and forget about it.
