First off let me start by saying this is the first Truck I’ve owned in 15 years…picked up my Platinum on Friday and have 200 miles on it.

    Quick things I’ve noticed.

    Pros:

-really like how it drives, much different than anticipated. I assumed it would drive like a “truck”, as mentioned last truck I had was 15 years ago.

-windows and moonroof are awesome! Visibility in this thing is ridiculous. Wouldn’t skip the moonroof if that’s a consideration.

-Toyota did an awesome job with the interior. The room in the CM is worth it.

    Cons:

-burning smell that is so strong after driving say 50 miles at a time, coming thru the vents. Not sure if this is from lubrication getting warm on this truck? Have never had it on previous 15ish new vehicles I’ve owned.

-Infotainment / connectivity feels like it was designed by a 15 year old- connectivity is horrible at best. Nice to have the 14” screen but programming feels like after thought. In addition the wireless charging pad connects 20% of the time. It’s not a phone case issue.

-Sluggish? Twin Turbo V6 feels sluggish to me. I’m coming from a Volvo XC90 4 Cylinder- Turbo, Super Charged. About 50 less HP.

All in all, I would buy it again. Some annoying, infotainment / charging issues seem to be the worst of it. I’ve read so much doom and gloom on these forums, almost cancelled my order. I’m happy I didn’t. Feels incredibly solid overall with minor annoyances I’m hoping will be resolved eventually.

I had the burnt plastic smell when I drove it from the dealership to my house, about a 30 mile drive. Haven’t had it since, but I haven’t driven a distance more than a few miles.

I LOVE they way it drives. Smooth and effortless, yet still fun. Can’t wait to get tires next week.

I like the large screen, haven’t had issues with the connections at all, and as far as the programming goes, I only use CarPlay so it works great from that respect.

I had a 16 tundra, and the interior on the 22 is head and shoulders better IMO.

I feel like it can put you to sleep with how smooth the transmission is, makes it feel slower than it actually is. I think she has plenty of gettyup for a truck. But certainly not fast. But I was driving my wife’s X5 M50 right before I brought the truck home so no truck would feel fast after that!

I too had quite a burning smell for 200-300 miles or so. It was such that I was beginning to get concerned, but kept telling myself it was just a new vehicle. Not sure when, but it just went away; one day me and my wife just realized we didn't smell it any longer (have 500 miles on it now).

I love the 14" screen / infotainment, but have the opposite experience you are having. Not sure what you mean by connectivity issues, but I have not had any trouble connecting to my phone/profile nor any issues using the voice recognition for phone calls, directions, etc. I will say I use the stock Toyota stuff, I don't care for Android auto.

I've read a lot of complaints on the phone charger, again, no issues with mine. It isn't a super fast charger, but it does charge the entire time I'm driving, hasn't disconnected yet. My only thought is it is a case related issue.

My truck isn't without issues though, just not the ones you are experiencing, lol.

The burning smell (break in) will go away.

We have a 2016 XC90 R Design (no polestar tuning) so I know what you mean…that supercharger takes up the initial power band before it’s turbo kicks in and makes for 1 smooth operation.
The Tundra is less so smooth and though it doesn’t have a huge lag to the turbos that is the slight sluggishness you are feeling. Put it in sport and it will go away.

The included Qi charger seems to be garbage from what I have read (don’t have one mind you) but I don’t have connectivity issues otherwise…mine connects flawlessly every time.

Yes, forums can be a downer sometimes but I can tell you from experience within every 10 post there is a nugget or 2 to pickup so stick with it and ignore the rest.

Glad you didn’t cancel and welcome (post pics when you can) and enjoy it.

I've been trying to monitor my charger while driving. Over the course of two days, it has not stopped charging once while driving. On average, if I'm not using the phone for anything, it seems to charge roughly 10% in 30 minutes of driving, or it will keep my phone at its current state of charge while using it.

At this point I’m not sure it even matters if it connects or not with it charging that slow. I think I’m more disappointed as I had it on my Chevy 5 years ago, super convenient. Popping up on and off on the 14” screen stating connect, disconnect. I have to find a place to put my phone besides the location to charge it.

Not sure of what the issue could be, maybe phone brand? I haven't had a single issue of not connecting and no screen messages. I haven't found a wireless charger that I'm impressed with, in a vehicle or otherwise. Personally, it seems more gimmicky than useful, but it's a place to put my phone. If I was to have a complaint, it's the location of the huge hazard light button. I turn them on at least once a day reaching for my phone.

Picked mine up the Friday before you (4th). Congrats on your new ride. After 700 miles and almost 2 weeks I think it has a good mix of truck/suv feel. I had a 2012 Tacoma years back that was too small, this is just right for me.
Agree on the interior, plenty of room in the CM. The infotainment needs tweaking. Light years ahead of what Toyota/Lexus had a few years back but time for an update to make it more user friendly (sound controls on main audio screen, central home button, options for layout with stations (talking XM here), etc).
Minor complaints and personal preferences but, with the rear window button why is it set up that you press up for the window to go down and then press down for the window to go up? Also why do they continue to place the heated steering wheel button next to a bunch of non-related buttons out of view to the left of steering wheel rather than on the dash by the heated seat controls? There, i feel better now.

Mine doesn't feel sluggish other than me babying it the 1st 1000 miles. Barely pushed the turbos past 10psi yet but never feels liek the powers not there. I could do without the fake engine noise. If your knocking down the pedal i get it but taking off normal from a stop sign shouldn't sound like your drag racing.
Others have had issues with the phone charging, mine seems to work fine. I'm running an S21ultra with the Samsung leather case on it for comparison. Maybe it struggles with thicker cases?

In the end I think this is a very nice upgrade for the Tundra. Perfect? No. What vehicle gets a full redesign and is though.

Love my 22 Limited Blueprint CM. Technology works well, not totally perfect but its pretty damn good. Wireless charger is pretty good. The odd time it will disconnect, but I think it's due to my phone case.

Ride and handling is so nice in this truck. Equal or better than other trucks.

Power is great. The mid-range passing power is excellent. Such a smooth and linear feel. I don't have the fake engine noise in my truck and I really like how quiet it is on its own. Less noise and more seat of the pants acceleration feel.

    Enjoy the ride!

Hmmm.... maybe it's an Apple thing as far as connectivity. I have an iPhone 13, case is super thing clear plastic.

Fake Engine noise is somewhat annoying... also notice when the fake engine noise kicks in the music or whatever I'm listening to turns up? I'm sounding more and more like an audiophile snob... I don't mean to come across that way.

I have been recently driving in sport mode, seems to be a better fit for me when I'm driving in town. On the Fwy I'm back to normal mode.

Buttons are oddly placed, still am getting used to the back window, moon roof. As @Donas has stated, I smash the huge hazard button more often than not.

All in all it's been a great ride so far, get the windows tinted tomorrow, lift kit and tires on Friday. I was pleasantly surprised how well the stock Yokohamas ride.

The only other annoyance, starting the truck from the app to warmup in the AM, why does the engine shut off when the doors are opened?

Blueprint is an awesome color, that was my second choice. Had to break it up as my last 5 vehichles have been blue. I'm stoked your tech side works well. I'm running a Windchill Platinum CMLB..

Did you happen to turn off the fake engine noise??? I thought all Limited / Platinum came standard with?

Really like the electronic steering, it's fun to drive for sure!

Its a Toyota thing. They all do it. And yes, its stupid. I have resorted to going outside, tossing my keys in the truck, and pressing the brake pedal with my hand to start it.

Also annoying is how it cuts all auxilary power and audio when you turn it off. Sometimes I need to finish a call after I park....just something to get used to and not the end of the world.

Mine is a Canadian model. We have strict packages predetermined by Toyota for the SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794. You get what they have selected for each trim with no other options except a single TRD OR package that you can add (TRD Sport as well on the SR5). There's basically no way to "build" a truck online. You get to pick your trim and then select the box for TRD OR if you want to add it. You can also add some bolt on Toyota accessories after that, but it's only the basic Toyota stuff.

Anyway, the Limited doesnt have the fake engine noise like the ones in the USA. You need to splurge for the Platinum to get that in Canada.

when I built my 1794, not that I was going to go for it but the only trd options were an air filter and something else. No option of the package. I thought that was strange.

There's no TRD OR package on 1794 in Canada. I cant remember if the Platinum has one available either....it may not.

After reading some other posts on the trd availability I kind of figured as much. Thankfully it wasn’t really a “want”. I’d have a hard time off roading with such a nice truck. Not that you shouldn’t. I just can’t afford to.

Maybe it is a brand related issue. I too use a Samsung phone and don't really have any complaints about the charger. I don't think it works great, but most don't.

I wonder what adding some aftermarket audio stuff will do to that fake engine noise.

I thought that was really out of place when I test drive one
