The new Tundra TRD Pro looks amazing right out of the gate, even with the 33's. Your current tire size is the same diameter so I think it will look good. Might benefit from a front level for aesthetics, but those wheels will look great regardless.
Also, I'm assuming you upgraded to Nittos in the same size.. because stock should of been P-rated Michelin LTX Trails... So if you truly are wrapping them in Nitto NG they'll look excellent.

Yeah, I hated the original tires that came in. I complained to the dealer and told them they weren’t AT tires as the Off Road package suggested and they agreed to switch them out. Same size though.

Honestly, besides the blistein shocks and suspension they add to the off road package it ain’t worth it to me. I removed the skid plate for the TRD and I was shocked at the piece of plastic they added in there to say it included skid plates.

Don't forget CRAWL Control, Hill Decent Control, and the various off-road driving modes. Outside of the TRD Pro, the TRD OR package is the only way to get those features. If you've ever had to use it, crawl control is worth it's weight in gold. haha. Side note: Does the regular 4WD also come with a factory locker or is that limited to the TRD OR & Pro models too? Genuinely asking.

But, if you don't off road much...then I totally see the argument. I try to hit the trails at least once a month. In a perfect world, twice a month. That being said, if I didn't go off-road but once in a blue moon...then I might have opt'd to save the money and just get a regular 4WD.

Regular 4WD won't come with a locker, you'll need the OR package for that. You also won't get Crawl Control/MTS either on the standard 4x4. You'll get the LSD, but a true dedicated rear locker will give you all the confidence off road :)

I agree only because I’m 2wd, so I didn’t really get anything for the extra money. That’s my fault, I shouldn’t have settled for the first available. As far as the skid plates, I said the exact same thing until someone shared this video below. it’s like 22 minutes in.

Interesting video, lots of good information. I'm looking forward to seeing people with some real world experience with it and how the "Ballistic Nylon" holds up. I wonder if it can really take a hit without denting/cracking.. I guess we'll find out as more people get their trucks and overland/offroad. I like the name of it so I'll keep it on mine for now. Now I need Etsy to make a "Ballistic Nylon" vinyl decal so i can stick it on my skid plate :D

My concern with it is that there is a difference between the nylon skid plate deforming and bending back versus the frame bending. The goal of a skid plate is to take the blow and if the blow is too much you replace the skid plate without needing to fix the frame. I think for most people what they provided is fine and it will keep you from scratching your frame. I do a lot of off roading and if the nylon plate takes a hit it will transfer the energy directly to that spot on the frame vs dispersing the energy to multiple points. I don’t believe it will help, frame wise, for actual off roading with obstacles and such.

Apparently the skid plate is made from ballistic nylon? Pick up truck SUV's YouTube Interview with Mike swears (sp?). Oh wait the video is already posted above.

Not saying it's sufficient ... Just that it isn't plastic?

I was inspired by other owners and posts and decided to purchase a set of Vector D579 rims for my "still incoming" Tundra. Question is about the lug nuts, I want black lugs to match my blacked out truck, but want to ensure I get the right size. I know the M14X1.5 size is correct but what should the length be? Would these fit?

The more I’m thinking about it, the more I want to do 275/65/20 on the stock limited wheels. I’m not planning to lift the truck, but if I did, I’d do a 2/2 at most, as I want the rake for towing our boat. Anyone running this size on a stock limited? Pics?

Also, has anyone checked via gps to see what % the Speedo is off stock?

So I acted fast on some clearance tires... Cdn 163/tire ... Cooper discoverer at xlts 285/70/17. Anyone have any experience with these? Apparently only certain models have the 3 peak rating/symbol and so far I can't find any info confirming one way or another for this size. Anyone by chance have that info? These tires seems to rate well generally except when it comes to ice and slush which they would likely encounter during winter here in the south coast of BC.

They are also 55lbs each which is about 14 lbs per tire more than the Nokian tire I was looking at in the same size. But the look of this one is much more aggressive than the Nokian which I like.

Any first hand experience with these tires?

    Thanks!

Apparently an excellent tire. Do some research, lots out there on the AT3 XLT. Start here:
Downsizing your rims to 17-inch won't leave you much room between the rim and brake caliper, though, the wheel weights might not clear it.

Hey thanks for the heads up! I spoke to the folks at wheelpros (local distributor) and they pulled up a database that had all the exact measurements from the vehicle and he said oh ya no issues you're good...i was asking about the BR stadiums was asking about the 17x8 stadium and 17x9 rapid at the time.

But I'm going to call them back to make sure... Thanks!!!!

HM, let me get the sequence of the convo straight... I said I was interested in 2 wheels the 17x8 stadium first and he checked fitment. That's what he confirmed would fit.

After he did that he I asked about the rapid in 17x9 12mm et. I didn't hear him check the numbers and give the same explicit good-to-to validation but carried on with no warnings about fitment... So ya... I need to call back to make sure.

I will also say that I've called multiple dealers to see who if anyone has access to a supplier who have the 17x9 rapids in stock and none have returned saying they won't fit (which probably isn't worth much). I didn't think about weights though so this time I'll ask wheelpros about that explicitly!

Will share results of call here... Stay tuned!
