I bought a box of moth balls. Put them in a big zip lock bag with a slit to let some of the odor out and put them on the ground under the engine. I don’t know if it really works but I have seen no evidence of pests over the last year.

That does work to an extent, but what if the truck is moved and it rains on the bag?

In my case I park under a carport so rain hasn’t a big issue however if no carport, I would find a way to cover it when the truck was gone.

I have bags of mothballs in the engine bay of our vehicles, keeps the little bastards out pretty effectively .

    ***Update***
Got my truck back last night. I lucked out with the following:
    1. The insurance adjuster being at the shop the day it was dropped off & signing off on repairs needed.
    2. The new wiring harness was available and at the shop by Friday along with the new relay box that was also chewed up. The firewall insulator pad is on a 2 month backorder, but that’s not a big deal for the time being.
Total cost for asshole squirrels & engineers who think soy based products are a good idea…..$5,772.43.

Dam that sucks but glad to hear they can fix you up!

Personally I don't get all the issues people have with squirrels.
I nor my family growing up have ever had any issues with them anywhere I have lived all over Va from Ladysmith to Fredericksburg to Fairfax county to Leesburg areas.

My father hates them also, and shoots them from the back porch with a bb gun because they eat and dig up my stepmoms flowers around the deck :D

I just call them fluffy tailed rats but we seem to have an agreement, they don't F with me and I don't F with them.
Clearly I have been lucky as Va is chock full of these little rascals from edge to edge city and countryside.
