Check battery cables, it's cheap and it's fixed so many people's 1st gens who didn't think of this obvious solution.

Specifically, make sure the cable from battery to the engine bay fuse box is good. Wiggle around the cable on the fusebox side and see if anything changes. Look for a YouTube video on how to get to the underside of that fuse box, a couple of guys here have had theirs arcing and short. Check the 120A alternator amp fuse. Check the actual power cables themselves for corrosion INSIDE the cable housing, that's been another aha. But given the description you gave, I suspect it's the lead between the battery and engine bay fusebox having an issue, or one of the larger fuses in there blown.

And you're 100% positive the positive cables are good?

I'm just saying. We've had more than one person tell us "checked all the cables" only to spend hundreds more and find cabling issues.

Cables start to deteriorate at 15y+

Was it cranking good before ignition switch replacement ?

In case it helps others in analyzing, what conductors and what color are you jumpering when hot wiring ?

This part is the reason I suspect this is a power delivery issue. I suspect it's either bad ground, bad power, or something shorted in the engine fuse/relay box like THIS GUY found. There's at least one other case where a member found the positive battery line going to the interior fuse box was shorting and not sending power to the cab. Too bad it's such a pain in the ass to pop the box up and look at the underside. It's not that it's difficult, there's just a trick and an order to it.
This thread may be interesting to you for troubleshooting steps. I assume it's not the starter relay, but this post has a video that covers diagnosing that in our trucks.

Electrical issues are the worst to debug, but there are wiring diagrams here at the site on a year-by-year basis that can assist with troubleshooting.

If you watch the video shifty sent there’s a 40A ami fuse in the engine bay that was blown that was keeping power from going to my key switch in the cab
