The button that physically says drive mode top left of the drive mode selector knob, It's obviously a button, but pressing it doesn't seem to affect anything when pressing it in any mode?

I'm not near my truck but I'm pretty sure after you've pressed the button you can turn the dial to switch between sport, eco and normal driving.

Ok. It’s possible this was confusing me because I’m 99% certain this light is always lit (i.e. the button is always on) on my truck. Possibly another issue... :/
    I’ll confirm at lunch.

I'm almost certain the light is always on in my truck as well unless you're in Tow/Haul mode or in 4WD and in the MTS mode.

I have no problem selecting drive modes, the problem is it seems as though you're suppose to have to push this button first to activate the ability to select between the different drive modes. I actually just found it in the manual too that that is the proper behavior. The button should act as an on/off for drive mode selection, the light should go on and off with pressing the button. I'm going to check it after lunch. Refer to page 369-370 in the owners manual.

The dial is designed to always be active on one of the 4 modes. Drive Mode/TowHaul/MTS/Crawl (2, if you don't have MTS/Crawl.
Pushing it multiple times will not turn it off.. This way the dial is always ready to go when selecting between different options dependant on which mode you're in.

Personally I think having to turn off the mode your currently in would be annoying. For example after selecting your eco mode, you'd then have to push it again to turn the system off? Makes sense to have it just stay active.

The drive mode button is just there so you can toggle between the drive modes in the knob (eco, normal, sport for mine) and the tow haul mode. Once its pressed you don't need to press it again until you go into the tow/haul button and need to get back to your normal mode options (eco, normal, sport). My button is always lit as well to designate you are in the normal modes and not tow/haul mode.

That makes perfect sense, because my button is always illuminated too.
