I know this is a longshot, but I had my catalytic converters stolen 3 days after I bought my new 2021 Tundra. It’s been a month + and I have no estimates on when the new ones could be available. The only aftermarket are universal fit, and I don’t really want to do that or do a cat delete due to O2 sensor issues. That being said, if you own a 21 and are doing a cat delete, I’ll generously beat whatever scrap price is for your upper converters.

I would assume I’m safe in this forum, but I’d need proof they’re not stolen also. Guessing this is no way going to happen, but I’m desperate!

That sucks… sorry to hear. I thought I saw someone selling cats on a dfw thread. Could be wrong though. It was a few days ago. Not sure if it’s what you need or not.
    Good luck

Hey bro,Keith is bringing me my new exhaust system at the end of this month, so my cats will be up for grabs. I have a 2020 so they only have 36,xxx miles on them. My flowmaster outlaw series 10 will also be up for grabs. I live in DFW area.

I might be very interested in yours, assuming they’re compatible between years. Are you replacing the entire assemblies?

I’m pretty sure they are. I’m not aware of any differences between the 20’s and 21’s but ya I’ve decided I don’t want the hassle of someone stealing my cats, so I’m just going to get rid of them. Can’t steal them if they aren’t there.

I don’t blame you. If my truck had more than 200 miles on it, I would probably do the same. It just feels wrong doing it so early haha.

Let me do some research to make sure they’re the same and I’m definitely interested. I don’t know why they wouldn’t be. Yours a crewmax?

Are you unbolting the entire assemblies, or just cutting them out and welding pipe to replace them?

Does Texas not have emission laws?

What about driving through other states?

In Va getting caught with no cats is like a $10k fine and you lose your vehicle.
I've seen it happen, though it's rare.

Most people around here won't take the risk.

I'm sure it will sound awesome, but smell bad lol

I’ll have to pass emissions testing but that’s about it. There’s a decent amount of people in texas that get rid of their cats.

Here in Va the cats are required statewide.
Any State Trooper can field inspect a vehicle and impound or seize it for failures, but again it is rare.
State Troopers here run/manage the state inspection and emissions programs.

Emissions testing here is required by counties based I think on population density.
Where I live we have, it 1 or 2 counties west of me is more rural and they don't require testing.

How will you pass testing with no cats?

Here its visual exhaust inspection plus electronic test through the OBDII port.
Any holes in exhaust or missing cats or mufflers is instant fail and they won't even hook up the electronics part.

What do you hope to gain by pulling all the exhaust out anyway?
    Better sound, mpg, or hp?

PS. Maybe this explains why Houston smelled so bad when I visited over 10 years ago lol.

    Disgusting everywhere like rotten eggs.
I was told its the refineries outside of town.
I could not live with that lol.

I think foulers is what he said for the ObII. If they get under the truck and look they will fail me and I’ll have to just swap a mid pipe in there that has cats for the inspection once a year. But I have a Harrop, so not having cats won’t really be an issue. If I was N/A I wouldn’t get rid of them.

Diesels in Texas don’t require emissions at all so practically everyone ditches their cats.

    Ah righton.

    Good luck to you!

My brother put highflow cats on his modded Subi STI, jackass at the emissions test said he could not see any cats and failed him, which black marked his account in the state system so nobody would even retest it, anywhere.
They also require video footage of the testing now, its gotten ridiculous here.

He paid to swap his stock cats back in (bolt ons)

Then he had to call the state and have a state rep scheduled to come down to the next testing place to verify he had cats so the tester was permitted to even run the test.
    Passed np.

Then paid to swap the highflows back in lol.

    What a pita.

Dang! Ya some of those shops are dicks.. I went to one last year and he said my windows were too dark and I told him I have a letter from my doctor. He said “ok cool” and passed me without even asking to see the letter lol didn’t even check to see if I was telling the truth.

Not sure my email reply came through.

I found a friend with a 2020, I’m going to crawl under and make sure they’re the same tomorrow. Everything I find says they are, so I’m definitely interested. Let me know your price and when you think you’ll have them off.

Man, I bought my first Tundra and drove it about 1.5 hours before having it parked in my garage the last month+ after they were stolen. I haven’t had a chance to give advice or ask anything else yet lol. I’ll do my best to find something else to comment on though

I feel for you. Totally sucks what happened. Supply chain issues aren't helping at all. There will be more responses here from members that want to help you. Respond to all of them. Ask more questions if needed. 50 will be peanuts with this situation. It's happening to a lot of members. Heed their advice:thumbsup:
