I'm looking to update my headlights, I have restored the lens once about two years ago. My headlights don't seem very bright. I've been reading about projector headlights and LED blubs as replacements. The truck has been parked outside for 8 years as it won't fit in the garage.
So should I just change the bulbs in current housing which doesn't clean up the lens housing or change out the whole housing??

Keep an eye on the marketplace. Members quite often sell their OEM takeoffs there.

You can wet sand the housings and spray them with 2K clear. It will make them last much longer with the UV protection in the clear coat.
You can also upgrade them, since LED bulbs in your halogen housings won’t get much brighter without blinding oncoming traffic. You can add projectors in your current housings (like I did) if you don’t mind a headlight project. But the most popular options for fantastic lighting are the OEM LED headlight upgrade, or the Morimoto headlights.

Much appreciated. I have used this which seemed to look really good for a while, but now I see where I wasn't perfect with the clear coat. Might have to look into what it takes to do projection upgrade if it isn't too complicated.

If you have the budget, get the 2018+ OEM LED headlight housings and an ihacker harness. OEM fit and finish with great light performance.

A projector upgrade isn’t crazy complicated, but it does take some finesse, time, and some wiring knowledge. If you’re looking for just a great lighting upgrade while being the most cost effective, the OEM leds are the way to go.
