Not only that but the cost of raw materials have also gone up. With that said, some companies are looking at “other” ways to make up costs outside of direct price increases of their products. Shipping and handling is an easy candidate for this.

I just used some landscape cement around the heads of mine, I let it set overnight and it's solid looking, painted black , but a screw driver pops it off if I have to remove bolts. Makes them look like rivets.

This is getting way out of hand ! If you catch one of the scum bags and do anything about it you're the one getting your ass handed to you by the authorities.

You are 100% correct my friend !

Had a coworker detain a homeless dude for breaking his tail light and the cop went off on him. I am very PRO law enforcement and they have a miserable job at the moment but Christ there is no repercussions for the scum bags actions !!!

We are bound by the handcuffs that the politicians have put on us. Criminals literally taunt the police because they know we can't do anything. It kills me to not take criminals to jail but we have no choice. We repeatedly catch the same criminals in stolen cars and they walk away from where we stopped them. Report gets written but they are right back "at work" stealing cars. It sucks telling people to not protect their property (I am talking outside your home. Do what you gotta do if they are breaking in where your family is.) but right now the courts do not support physical force for property crimes. You wind up hurting someone over a piece of property and the prosecutors jump on that, not the guy who is out doing vehicle prowls all night and got caught. It seems the politicans are starting to feel the heat on their "defund the police" social experiment. Hopefully soon the pendulum will start coming back.

I am in California, the only places I think are worse are Portland and Seattle. I noticed that you are from the PNW and the way you write I am assuming you are some kind of officer. If I am correct . . . Hats off to you good sir and thanks for your service !

I have no doubt Tyler can made the fuel tank shield and the product will be awesome and solid, but not at the price point you would like to see it at

I'd be glad to be wrong about this, and would be glad to get a plate for the gas tank if I am.

Since hardening the steel of a gas tank skid would be prohibitively expensive; I have a logical presumption that at the point someone has a drill in their hand, it would only take them an extra few seconds to get through a steel plate. As a theft deterrent, a skid plate for the gas tank wouldn't be as effective as the cat protection plates are for cats.

Fair point, so AR500 steel skid for gas tanks? Getting into Mad Max-level armor, and $$$$....

“Complicated problem” sounds accurate, unfortunately. Maybe a normal skid would be enough for them to move to the next one, but those don’t cover the sides much, if at all.

I have no problem paying $11..

When you get them, please post pics with the pentagon bolt socket fitment and and once installed on the truck. I don't think there are any RockHard 4x4 pics with the Valhalla plates yet.

True that! The RCI gas skid can easily be circumvented by drilling the side corner of the tank.

    Lots.
I finally got around to installing my Front and Rear Cat Theft Deterrent Plates. So glad that I upgraded to the 1/4" thick aluminum plates as they are really beefy and heavy duty, thanks @Classy63 Tyler for your help in that regard. They will certainly serve double duty as skids for the type of wheeling that I do which is mainly beach and trails.

I also used Rock Hard 4x4 Rock Dome Tapered Bolt Head Protectors for the security bolts on the bottom of the skids. (as Barnes 4WD is currently Out of Stock for their large size bolt head protectors)
    https://www.northridge4x4.com/part/...UkFBcAHCvAIXKQY47GKdN0-WspfQntRgaAs5tEALw_wcB

You can see the heavy gauge of the aluminum on this picture of the front plate taken before installation.

Did you use the Pentagon security bolts from Tyler or a different security bolt? If you used the Pentagon bolts, did the socket fit well into the Rock Hard domed washers?

I did not use the pentagon security bolts from Tyler on my install. For comparison though, here are the dimensions of the two types of bolt protectors from the information on their respective websites.

I am shipping steel out as fast as I can.

The aluminum load is ready for me to pick up, but I want to clear out some more steel today, I will get it tomorrow, plus I have a nail in a tire, it isn’t leaking yet, but I can’t imagine hauling a load with a trailer will help… I have new wildpeaks ordered though. Hopefully I will like them more than the ridge grapplers.

I am going to order tomorrow, had a buddy get his cats stolen and that sealed the deal for me. I would prefer aluminum as we have salted roads here in the winter but would be OK with powder coated black steel if they get here sooner.

Which will have a shorter ship time as of tomorrow, both front and rear plates, black powder coated OR bare 1/8 steel (I can paint if needed) or bare 3/16 aluminum?

How far back are the order dates you are currently shipping on the powder-coated 1/8 steel?
As much as I want my truck back from the dealer, going on 4 months, I'm hoping my cat plates will arrive first.

    Order # R261375788
    Date Jan 28, 2022

Not trying to rush you, just trying to figure things out.
    Thanks, Tyler..

    Well... that depends...
Do you have a TRD skid plate or RCI aftermarket skid engine plate? If you do, you probably want the nut plate to make install easier.
If you don't have an engine skid plate, are you wanting a Valhalla one? It is not part of the cat protection, but integrates with it to protect underside of engine from damage.
Is it a 4WD or 2WD? For 4WD you both the front and rear cat plate. For 2WD you may want to order just the front cat plate until the improved 2wd plate comes out. Will leave the back cats exposed, but on 2WD they are somewhat exposed anyway without the 4WD transfer case.

Thank you for asking me what I’m looking for I appreciate it. 21 limited 4wd TRD off-road skid plate. Looking for front and back and the security bolts. If the nut plate is an addition and it makes it easier than I would want that as well. I know reading from many months back there were choices of aluminum or steel and varying thicknesses.

I guess I should’ve looked at the first post, that’s what happens when your motivationally impaired LOL. I want the quarter inch aluminum front and back and the security bolts and if that nut plate helps that as well.
