I’m not currently because I haven’t decided if I have an actual “need” for it, but at some point down the road I’ll probably get a fifth to match. I just need to convince myself it’s a need lol

Retro fitting some oem TRD wheel caps onto my aftermarket wheels.. what do you guys think? Too tacky and stick with the all-black kmc wheel caps? Or does it look alright?

Used a dremel to cut out the center.. and epoxy to stick the oem caps on.

Comes down to personal preference I think it looks good both ways if you want a stealthier look go with the kmc but if you want a bit of pop go with the TRD but doesn’t look tacky by any means looks oem.

Fair enough man! Any chance you've measured the pocket underneath the truck to see if a full size spare in that size would fit? I'm going for a full set of five straight off the bat, i've had a bad (aka learning) experience with my Taco only having four and a donut so now I don't roll those dice anymore hahaha.

Had a set of four methods on my truck with the OEM donut as a spare, tore a Wildpeak on a mountain road in the middle of the winter while it was snowing and then realized I didn't have the correct lug nuts (method lug nuts didn't have enough threaded length) to properly secure the donut. Had to limp all the way back to town, 20+ miles, with a loose front wheel. Whoops haha.

Revere Overland has accomplished this and stated a full 35 would fit. He's running a Toyo Open Country At3 35x12.5.
Judging by the photo.. it'll fit, but from the rear you'll barely see your diff since the 35 covers most of it.

He also mentions no modifications were made to fit.

Congrats on the wheels! These are the ones (17x9 though) I've landed on as well but as I don't have my truck yet and have a trade, so I'm trying not to have them in my posession, so I can walk away from the car/dealer if I don't get what I want for the trade.

What tires are you planning on putting on? Im Looking at Nokian outpost ATs in 285/70/17 in the non E load version. 41lbs.

Was also thinking about the 18s and putting the stock tire on till I've burned through them.

Looking forward to seeing what you decide on!

    Best.

I appreciate it man. I pretty stoked about it, trucks build date is tomorrow so I'm closer than I ever have been. Can't wait.
Went with 35 ridge grapplers. Not too concerned about weight lol they are listed at 68 pounds a piece.

Thats awesome that a 35 spare fits, now the weight is considerably more than a factory tire, I hope that little braided cable will hold it….

Right on, that's some meat! Can't wait to see it all mounted up. Those wheels are just so damn sexy. I'm actually still toying with the gunmetal version too so hoping someone posts some pics of those mounted up too.

That and or anyone posting a +12mm offset with 11.5 wide tire...

    Congrats again!

You and I landed on the same exact size/wheel (I must admit not until I saw it here so pardon the imitation as I hadn’t seen them anywhere beforehand).

Haven’t settled on tire size as yet but going bigger more than likely with these Territory M/Ts at 54lbs (315/70/17) which another member turned me on to

Goodyears... I was looking at some duratracs but to be honest I really don't know much about wheels beyond what I'm reading as non of my social group drives trucks / plays with bigger tires etc.

I'm never going to drive the truck outside of service roads and other terrain to get to fiahingspots so hoping a little beef on the wheels give me some added confidence and sweet looks while not getting killed at the pump.

Was actually looking at BR stadiums to start but the rapids just speak to me.

Black Rhino had a few different wheels I was looking at but unfortunately my top 2 were discontinued and I couldn't find them anywhere. The rapids were #3 on my list and the only ones I could find so I guess it was meant to be.

The wheels that come on the limited trim here in Canada unfortunately look nothing like that. Those are really nice.

Curious what models those were?! one of the things I love about the rapids is the 3 dimensionality with the kink in the spoke, but the thinness of the spoke with a contrasting colour like the bronze is still understated / not too in your face. BR imo also has a nice deep /dark bronze and gunmetal for that matter.

There's a white ram 1500 in/on the BR gallery/website and that nailed it for me.

Nice! Good variety of different looks!

I'm a fan of the kmc Mesa (black rim gunmetal spoke) and some fuel wheels too but the weight is a turn off. For me... Especially since the rapid ticks all the boxes for me.

I'm still not 100% sure about the Nokian outpost in terms of looks but I'm guessing that functionally will be aswesome. Found a shot of a fellow that had a set (exact size I want) put on his wife's ram ... They look pretty good... Kind of medium aggressive as far as ATs go. Thet are a new tire for Nokian so no real reviews that I could find yet... Thoughts?

It won't be an issue. I posted another thread on the forum about this. I bought a matching spare when I upgraded to 295/70/18 Cooper Evo M/T' a couple of weeks ago. It's mounted on the spare OEM steel rim and tucks under the truck just fine without any modification.

Even though I always carry a small 12v compressor & plug kit, I didn't want to be stuck on the trail (or anywhere for that matter) with a sidewall puncture. An extra $285 for a little bit of insurance seemed reasonable to me.

    Very nice!
Any idea how wide the steel spare wheel is? I'm going for a full size spare as well. I got a puncture on an old E rated tire once while on the trail.. so not gonna chance it. Decided to go for a full 35x12.5 and if the spare is at least 7.5 inches.. going to try and convince discount tire to mount a full 35".. even though required rim width is 8.5-11.
    Thanks

Unfortunately, I don't. I'm guessing it's the same 18x8 as the OE wheels, but I could be wrong. They might have cheaped out and gone with something smaller like an 18x7. I know my 295/70/18 (which is 11.6" w) mounted just fine.

Sounds good, I'll just drop the spare later today to find out. It'll be good practice :)

    I'm curious.......will the 2022 tailgate fit a 2015. I like the lettering better.

Pretty certain it won't. It will not line up.. especially around the tail lights. Not to mention ordering just the tail gate would almost seem impossible now.

This question might be best in another thread...only so you could get more responses. I'll give it a shot since I happen to be viewing the thread when you posted.

It might fit. All 22 tailgates have a backup camera. Rear cameras were optional back in 2015 so one of two things might happen:
    1. Either you have a factory backup camera, in which case the harnesses might be different since the new cameras have a higher resolution output. Not sure if a 2022 camera would be compatible with 2015 equipment.
    2. You don't have a factory backup camera or don't care about having it, then you'd probably have to delete the harness to keep it from interfering with the fitment.
Fitment aside...the 2022 tailgate carries a body line at the top that ties into the top of the taillights. I don't think that would line up on a 2015 and might look pretty strange.

My 2 cents. On a side note: I was on the fence at first about the updated tailgate lettering. At first, I thought it was too "in your face" but, like the chrome, it has really grown on me. Especially since I installed the OE black letter inserts.

Well, I got my wheels in. I ordered on Friday and they came in pretty quickly about an hour or so ago. Not sure what I’m gonna do about tires yet. Any ideas if the current Nitto grapplers 265/70/18 I have on now would look okay until I get a bigger size? Undecided if I’m going 285 or 295. I’m waiting on the TRD LIFT suspension so I may be a while before I lift it. DCF56820-37D4-4270-A546-0D6C99B10814.jpg
