    I don't remember exactly what the cause of the frame rust issue is. But I bought a 2000 tundra new and it was only a few years later that they started sending out service bulletins to every tundra owner stating that if you had rust perforation that they would replace the frame. They learned from the Tacoma debacle that buying them back for full price was to expensive. They told all tundra owners to take their trucks in for inspection no matter where you live even though it is more likely in salt states. To even think that Toyota would risk everything to resell those tacomas is completely ridiculous! I was selling toyotas at the time. No way no how did that happen. People were trying to buy them. But it was not happening, they were very clear any dealer caught selling one would be shut down. OP you getting your info from some ford forum? Or maybe you are listening to the dodge boys!

    yes I was in Afgan. as a combat engineer. From what I am gathering there was several recalls with then gen 1 Tacoma's and Tundra with the Dana frames. And if I am understanding my research correctly Toyota sued Dana for those bad frames. If they got a cash award out of it They should be obligated to replace all bad frames that come forward not just ones they want to do longs it was in that 15year period. Ill send you a couple of picture of afgan. I got them on a CD in my files
