Daughtry is crap rock. At least his early stuff was. Haven’t heard anything since the early 2000s though.

I think Skillet falls into the NuMetal bucket.

I know there is a thread for this and lots of places on the internet to research but I am getting overwhelmed. I'm in the market for an AR, what's your go to for a $1500 budget. Ready set go!

 

Check out Ruger. Last I checked (a while ago) they were solid and cost effective. For $1500 you can probably get the rifle and kit it out.

 

Also thought I would share why I was up late last night. This happened next door. I don’t live in a bad part of town at all but just add it to the list of reasons of why I want to move somewhere with fewer neighbors. Now if the housing/land market would just cooperate.

Agreed. She should have been yelling at her husband for being a POS and not the police. She was either high or drunk by how emotional she was and kept yelling you can't do this on my property. It is a rental house, the only one in the neighborhood, and maybe the house will get sold or get some better renters out of the deal.

I got a Smith & Wesson M&P 15 a few years ago, and it impresses me that it chews through literally any ammo .223 or 5.56 with zero complaints, zero jams, zero worries.

I'd recommend moving the budget around more for optics than the brand of platform. Not saying get a trash brand, but you don't need to blow your entire wad on a Colt when Ruger and Smith make fine rifles.

If you've not already, consider a 10. 5.56 is fun to shoot, and you can trade uppers for other calibers if that's your bag; but if you're going to do more than target shooting, 7.62 might fit better. It carries a DRT (dead right there) factor that the 15 doesn't necessarily carry. I'm happy with the 15, but a 10 is on my 'one of these days' list.
