About the same as the new Tundra - I wouldn't much care. If you like it, like I said, by all means be happy with it. It's just super ugly and horridly disproportionate in so many ways to me that I have zero (i.e. none at all) desire to go any further. That's not unique to the Tundra...I wouldn't buy any vehicle I personally thought was hideous. I don't hold it against you, it's just not for me.

I can do that right now, actually, were I so inclined. I'm just not so inclined. (Granted, I've only owned it for 2 years, but I paid about $43.5K for my truck, taxes included. I can sell/trade it for that easily.

Regarding thinking about it...I've flat out SAID I am, elsewhere. Not right now, but in a year or so absolutely. I've never said I'm not. :)

I have indeed - I've test driven both the SR and the SR5, in fact.

So I'd like your opinion then. If you are like me and don't use the back of the cab for people - my 90lb Lab excluded.
Would you be willing to remove the frame under the seats to create a flatter floor.
Or is that going too far for what is just as we know now ....a bad (no terrible) design by Toyota.

I would say, don't over estimate what you can get right now, the market has fluctuated big time right now with the gas prices. I just got offered only 34K for mine and it was way higher than that recently.

I kinda do use my truck for people, although I do use it for my 90# Newfie mix as well. (LOL) Somehow I missed the whole frame removal thing to create a flatter floor thing - I may need you to clue me in on that. I probably use it more for my Newfie, truth to tell.

But based on usage, I'd personally leave it stock and probably build some sort of insert thing for the footwells, because aside from Toyota reliability, I've classically had sh*t luck (lol!), and I'd be the one who'd do that, and either get T-boned or have some issue that resulted in me losing my warranty when I needed it most. That, plus my dog usually sits his butt in one of the footwells and lays 'uphill' across the hump under the seats.

That I'll grant you - as recently as 2 weeks ago it was valued at $43K, but now it's dropped to like $37K or something. With that said, dealership gives 30 days quotes, and were I so inclined I could take them up on it. I just wasn't interested at the time, that's all. :)

And to quote a great man and expand on it (that's a joke, laugh and relax) I've done this with other vehicles in the past:

2000 Acura RSX - production model turned out almost exactly as the prototype - bought one
2007 Infiniti G37 coupe - totally bummed by the changes they made to the production model - didn't buy one (despite coming from an '03 G35 coupe)
2022 Toyota Tundra - here we are :D

So you're not 100% wrong, but pretty close (in my personal sphere of planning). The main reason I follow a lot of these threads is to get ideas for things I can add/update on my 2011 to essentially bring it to a more modern state while not forking out a small fortune for a vehicle I'm not personally enthused about.

    So far, I've added:

-Kenwood head unit (w/Android Auto, Nav)
    -Leather seating*
    -Seat heaters**
    -Rearview camera
    -Front Camera**
    -Rear TRD Sway bar**
    -HID headlights**
    -Updated 2019 Sport shocks/springs**

I'm sure there's more, but it's overall been a pretty small investment and am happy with the truck otherwise.

(*halfway through installed, **waiting in the garage to put in; one of the down sides of living in WI during the winter...it's too cold!!).

Used-truck market peaked in mid-late Nov. Declined in Dec and been flat for past month. Chart shows Canadian market, but somewhat mirrors US activity. (Also, lots of American dealers buying CDN trucks for import.)
If you are holding out for more money on your 2.0 or 2.5, it won't happen. Covid is waning, supply chains are improving, although Russia is still a wild card.

Seems like it would be much simpler to build a platform than modify the truck.

it would be much easier, but no elevation is permitted for reasons already discussed in this thread.

Hey Toyota, are you getting all of this ?

You build a frame to hold batteries for your Hybrid, (A Hybrid that does not really get better mileage), then for the non-hybrid, you leave your empty F frame there, and you call it storage; instead of building a proper support/under storage for the seats. that folds away when you lift the seats, you know.....like the engineers designed proper in the previous Gen. Go look at Ford for ideas, or go ask the previous Toyota engineers.

The 2.5 gen CM does not have proper storage on the floor of the rear seat.

2.5 engineers got us more than half way there years ago. They gave us space to store anything we want and a flat enough floor.
The 3.0 engineers had an opportunity to improve on it - use the Ford idea as mentioned.
Now if you yourself need actual storage compartments under the seats of your 2.5 gen CM. Very easy to do. The original design permits this.

still a half assed attempt on the 2.5gen, it’s a bush league aftermarket solution so no idea why everyone is pissed on this generation?

I always have one seat down for a car seat and a dog usually on the floor, with seats folded up on that side so this “storage” solution makes zero sense to me.

The Ford still wins the rear seat cargo/storage contest. Hands down no question. Its a simple design and maximizes usable space whether the seats are up or down.

How is your dog going to ride in your new 2022 ?

I also have my dog on the floor I give him half with his dog bed. The other side stores the items I don't want going in the bed.

I do wish my rear seat had the little storage cubby that some Fords have that is accessible when the seats are folded up. That would be handy, but I am definitely not willing to drive a Ford to have that feature.

I have to say I truly don’t understand the hate for the Tundra rear floor. I carry lots of gear back there, and it’s completely useable. Here is an amp, a pedalboard, and four guitars in double soft cases. This is a typical load (sometimes with a few more guitars) when I’m headed to work. Reading some of y’all’s comments on here, using my rear floor like this should be impossible lol.
    96D32928-FEC9-42F0-89BA-036B5A09C68E.jpg

And here is a much smaller load from yesterday. I’m building a treehouse for my kids. Good thing lumber is so cheap right now :bananadead:. Anyway, notice that no matter how winding a road might be, this stuff can’t slide or roll around because it is kept in the footwell. This is very handy. I prefer it to a completely flat floor because my stuff stays put. I keep the seat back organizers for range day and for the kids’ books and toys on long trips.
    C177953C-D84C-4B3E-BE01-AAEB6F97A7D0.jpg
My rear floor works perfectly for larger loads and is better than a flat tub floor for smaller items because it makes them stay put.

Also, not everyone is "downsizing " space from a previous gen tundra. I for one will be getting a bigger interior than my current ride.

Same. I mean, yeah, a flat floor would be 'nice' to have, but the backseat of my 2.5 Gen CrewMax is SO freaking big. To me, that offsets any issues the 'hump' creates.

The only thing the 2nd Gen needs is the ability to put something taller than a piece of paper under the seat when it's down. For now I can put stuff in the footwell because my daughter is in a car seat but once the kids are grown, that may not work as well.

That's the truth! I came from a 2018 Rubicon JL and the 2022 Tundra interior is huge! I can't imagine anyone feeling cramped unless they are 7 feet tall or weigh over 400 pounds. Guess there are a lot of body builders posting here.

The Honda has a fullsize interior like GM. I compared with a Silverado at the cottage. They were surprised.
as far as SUV quality storage area goes (dry, secure) you are losing access to a big space. I am talking cubic space. just saying. 8^0
