I here that Toyota has brought back a lot of these old trucks . I was wondering what stops them from loading them up and bring to the deep south where rust is not a problem . Some of these vehicles look and appear to be in outstanding shape until you look at the frame. By looking at this picture with no outer signs of rust .Being a southern you would look at it to be a sound body truck. If you live in the north you would look underneath the vehicle because your use to that condition. And then you would be able to see that the truck is not fit for the road. Toyota stated it was a northern recall only.

I'm probably not understanding the issue and your question.
My initial response is why should some corporate entity be responsible for vagaries in climate and road chemical use?
Maybe they should only sell Toyotas in the south? Then if you drive it up north is it your fault?

I am puzzled as well about the OP. Do you have any thing solid to suggest that Toyota is in fact doing this or is this just a theoretical possibility? The negative PR alone, I think, would make the little 'profit' not worth it.

I'm not disputing that there are serious rust issues.

the first and only truck I ever owned and it would have to have a frame on it like that. The truck runs like a new 1970 cady if you ever drove a new one you will know what I am talking about

Well they didn't do that with the thousands of Tacomas....that'd likely be a death blow to Toyota

People were actively TRYING to buy them, even as parts trucks from Toyota and they were refusing money being thrown at them

I guess I can believe part of what you say but a part tells me no. here's why us dumb people instead of buying aftermarket products for our little toys we buy the name brand so if Toyota would have sold those vehicles what would have happen a flood on the market of used parts Toyota parts div. would go under
