How many miles? Could still be well within the break in period which would result in poor gas mileage.

And if not just say f*ck it, lift that bad boy, throw some 35's on it and embrace the crap gas mileage.

Totally worth it for me to deal with no issues. That said, I did just put my stock tires and wheels back on, lol

    That's towing mileage.

This was going up over a mountain pass and back down. I actually got better MPG heading the other direction, but didn't take a pic.

Yeah, like I said, I'm lucky on MPGs. That pic was from 3 days ago, so definitely winter fuel, but I was also just cruising 2 lane highway-ish speeds over a snowy mountain road. I'm just super fortunate that my truck doesn't care about the slightly larger and heavier tires, small lift, or the armor on it. She might just be being nice to me because I usually spoil her with ethanol free fuel. :notsure:

Ok ethanol free fuel has a major impact on these trucks, I live in corn land so we get the bullshit .

but I’ve never understood how people get these 17+ mpg out of these things , no way for mine no matter what .

    I have 33”s on 18”s load e though , but that’s nothing crazy

Probably driver habits. It's usually a pretty big impact. That, and wind.

agreed but I would need a sail to get 17+ with any consistency, I don’t have a super heavy foot.

But I’m not a mpg guy obviously or I would never own a V8 tundra

Yeah, I'm not worried about MPGs. Hell, I'm eyeing a V8 Challenger as a fun car, so MPGs be damned, right?

yes , have to enjoy V8 throat while you can, regardless of how we all feel on this site , the V8 is on the endangered species list

    I’ve owned one since 1999 with a 2000 V8 tundra.

it’s coming to an end, that said I also drove a TT Supra that my old man had

If the Supra wasn't gouged on price and a little more practical I would definitely consider it, but I've never seen one for less than $10K above MSRP. That was before the current lunacy, too. Heard/read that the Charger and Challenger will be moving to TTV6s soon as well. Hurts my soul. :(

The Supra back then kicked ass, off of the top of my head i think we had a 93 and a 97 15 year anniversary edition

also had a 85 celiac Supra

Old man worked for Toyota , grew up in them

I've heard it said that 1/2 ton pickups will be coming to an end in the next couple of decades and it will be Tacos/Colorados/Dakotas/etc and 3/4-1 ton HD trucks.

Given the retarded regs that base economy requirements on wheelbase, I wouldn't be surprised. Tiny trucks like the Maverick will replace the midsize role.

Not to get overly political, but my hope is that future elections result in elected officials that will deregulate some of this crap.

It's not officials. It's non-legislative bodies that are creating rules that are somehow legally binding even though they were not voted on. If you can't pass the law, make it a rule. That's as much as can be said without the hammer coming down.

I get that. I just think those folks should be ignored. I know it ain't as simple as that, but at the end of the day, it is the answer.

The 1/2 ton crew cab truck is the best utilitarian vehicle going for the rural areas of America. I don't need to pull a 32 ft gooseneck loaded down with steers and heifers or a 32 ft flatbed loaded down with pipe. I need something that can haul the family along with some lightweight but bulky camping gear down an unmaintained dirt road or trail, get decent mileage down the highway to work, and haul a used washer and dryer, preferably in one trip, to a family that's a bit down on their luck, and take a bunch of kids three quarters across the state of Texas in comfort to hike a mountain. A mid-sized truck ain't gonna do all that, nor is an SUV and any version of an HD is more truck than needed for those jobs.

Take away my V8 and sub a TTV6? I can live with that. But don't take away my full sized pickup that's just right for the jobs.

I don’t know the future. I just know there are a lot of people in positions of power who want everyone to move to EV ASAP. They are being lobbied by EV tech industry from around the world. And they have a lot of support in the general population who cant wait to signal their climate virtue. (It will all be wrapped in climate packaging.) V8s wouldn’t be all of a sudden outlawed. I think they would be more and more regulated over time. The ratchet that only turns one way. You’ll pay for carbon credits. Maybe get a minor discount or truck permit if you use the truck for your actual job.

To me, casual and enthusiast V8/gas guzzler ownership is going the way of private airplane ownership — $$$$. Again I can’t predict the future, but that’s what I think will happen.

Florida here. Last trip I did was Miami to Summerfield, about an hour above Orlando. I did 15-16 mpg @ 75-85 mph. That was the average for the whole trip. On a fill up I decided to bring it down to around 65-70 mph. I got around 17-18 mpg. I have gotten 20 mpg but that going mostly 60 and occasionally 65. I have BF 33” E rated also.

    This truly made me laugh.

As for your other post. I currently have about 580 miles on the odometer. So very much still within the break in period.
